Robi

Robinho had a good game today. Had some good efforts on target, linked up well with the midfield, and did a job at left mid in a 4-4-2 rather than left wing 4-3-3. I don't know what he did wrong today?

Without his run (from our own area) to take a couple of their defenders, there would have been no room for adebayor to score the first goal. He contributed well today I thought, especially for first game of the season. He'll improve and become a very big player for us as the year progresses.
I'm just glad we won today, and I'm taking the positives from the match.

Only three players in the midfielders I'd have above Ireland in the prem, and I have not jumped on the bandwagon, I used to have stand up rows with the people around me who slagged him off 2/3 seasons ago, it was satisfying last season when one of the guys came over, shook my hand and said he was wrong. Anyone with a clue about football could see Ireland had unbelievable talent/technique he just did not know how to use it.

My fear with Robbie is that he does not have the character and aggression to make it in England. He has more ability than 99% of players in the world but he clearly does not enjoy the physical side of the game and does not show enough desire to 'boss' games. That said he can be fantastic to watch and if he decides he wants to be a top player with MCFC then he could be an all time great for us, my gut feeling is he won't.[/quote]

Spot on with Stevie, never doubted his ability, very few City fans gave him a chance season before last, after Gerrard and Lampard would not want anybody else.

As for Robinho, can not be bothered wasting my time on anybody who does not see the natural talent he has, he is a forward player who is not required to defend in any way. He is not a 30 goal a season striker as somebody suggested but a creative forward player who with the ball at his feet could be the best in the Premiership.

I think a lot of people expect to much from Robbie. He had an average game today but even at average he unlocks defences and could have scored two cracking goals. Not only that he created so much space for SWP, Adebayor and Bellas up front it was unreal.

He is by far our most gifted player and because of that people understandably want end product. Look at Ireland... he drifted in and out today but got a great goal at the end that earned him the plaudits. If Robinson didn't make that great save to deny our Brazilian superstar in the 2nd half then Robinho would be hailed as a god today.

Id have taken him off 2nd half and put petrov on

Petrov would be too scared to go near the ball against this lot.

That would be the Petrov that tore a more physical Blackburn side to shreds the season before last?
