Van Persie's: Arsenal record

Starts/Goals

2004-05 18/10

2005-06 21/11

2006-07 25/13

2007-08 20/9

2008-09 38/20

2009-10 18/10

2010-11 26/22

2011-12 45/37

Total 211/132

So he's bagged double figures even in injury hit seasons bar 1

His league scoring record before the last two seasons is 5,5, 11,7, 11,9.

Last two seasons is 18, 30. That comparison gives a truer reflection imo.

Once again, if we get the 18,30 scoring bloke then we have probably made an improvement in the squad.

If we get the other bloke, we have chucked away a top striker & replaced him with an injury prone player.

The one thing that concerns me with cavani is before he was with napoli wasn't he terrible?? Is it possible that with our non-counter attacking approach this may not suit him?

Had two straight 15 goal seasons when he was with Palermo when he was 21-22. Wouldnt call that terrible imo.

Both RVP or Cavani or anyone else for that matter, would be a gamble. Are our current strikers so far below these players that we have to replace them ?

Are we sure that new players will instantly fit in better than the players we have now, & that our current strikers won't be better next season, having spent another season at City & won the league ?

Is it really nailed on that Van Persie or any of the other rumoured striker targets are a guaranteed improvement on what we have already ?

Sorry bud, must have read an article saying he was a dissapointment or something... that is still a good return for sure.

Mancini seems to think so and that's the main thing.

Anyone ever been angry at a footballer? (Whether justified or not)
Well it doesn't compare to this. (It's particularly juicy 3mins 25secs in)

Regardless of Van Persie's fitness, isn't this a case of concentrating on the wrong area of the team when we need a better CB than Kolo and Savic as back up.

Just because it's the most popular thread on bluemoon doesn't mean it's the club's top priority. And if we do sign him we'll still have a few quid to strengthen other areas as well

ESPN Classic this morning was City vs Arsenal 2009/2010. 4-2 to City, Adebayor's header and length of the pitch celebration, Bellamy and SWP's brilliant counterattacking, Wiggy's bent refereeing and......who's that racing over to the City fans in the South Stand after he's scored, screaming 'fuck you, fuck you, fuck you' at the top of his voice? Why it's Robin Van Persie!
A horrible cnut, who's never had a good word to say about us. Wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. Pacy winger and a top class centre half please. Kun, Mario, Edin and Carlos are a good enough quartet of forwards for me, and nicely balanced too.
