Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to rival Manchester City for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

Club director Leonardo has made tentative enquiries as to the Holland international’s availability this summer.

The Ligue 1 club were initially told the Gunners had no intention of selling their skipper, but the ongoing uncertainty over Van Persie’s future has led to PSG rekindling their interest.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti knows all about the 29-year-old from his days at Chelsea and is keen to bring the striker to France.

PSG - who are financially driven by mega-rich Qatari Investment Authority - have the funds to compete with big-spending City.

But Van Persie has made it clear he will only leave Arsenal to join a title-challenging club in a major European league. Manchester City are preparing a formal £20million offer for the striker.

Van Persie - who has a year left on his contract - is stalling on a new three-year deal worth £130,000-per-week - plus a £5million bonus.

Earlier this week, City boss Roberto Mancini - a long-term admirer of the Dutchman - was coy when asked about Van Persie, who has a year left to run on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

'Van Persie is an Arsenal player, I won't say anything,' he explained.

Van Persie is also on the wanted list of Italian giants Juventus as well as Barcelona in Spain and has been offered a new deal at the Emirates.

City, though, have the power to offer the 28-year-old in excess of £200,000 a week as well as the chance to win the Barclays Premier League.

If City are to push a deal through they will need to offload one of their other high earners such as Emmanuel Adebayor or Carlos Tevez.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is remaining coy on speculation linking the club with a move for Arsenal ace Robin van Persie.

Van Persie's future at Arsenal has been the subject of conjecture for some time with the Dutchman yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

City have been strongly linked with a move for van Persie this summer with the forward entering the final year of his contract at Arsenal.

Mancini refused to confirm if van Persie was on his list of transfer targets this summer and admits he does not expect any imminent moves at the Etihad Stadium.

"Van Persie? He is an Arsenal player and I don't want to disrespect Wenger," Mancini told Sky Sport Italia.

"We have four strikers and we will start the preseason in five days, it's unlikely there will be major changes in such a short time."

Mancini also played down speculation that Edin Dzeko could leave the club for Juventus and he hopes Aleksandar Kolarov will remain at Eastlands.

"The same goes for Dzeko, his farewell is not expected," added Mancini.

The interest of Juventus for him? It will be difficult that Edin goes away.

"Kolarov? I myself wanted to bring him to City. He is a great player. If it depends on me, he would remain at the City. I'd love to have him again in the next season but I cannot impose myself on his will."

Mancini also revealed that Carlos Tevez will remain at City unless he wants to move this summer after his infamous bust-up with the Italian last season.

"Tevez will remain, unless he wants to change team," concluded Mancini.

i really hope this is true and we stick with our 4 attackers. With tevez playing 100% next season and without the antics, I'd be surprised if we hadn't had the leagure wrapped up by late march. :)

In Italy GdS are reporting that Juve have tabled a £10m bid.

Nothing like upsetting Wenger following his disparaging remarks about Serie A.

In reality, it will probably take something not much more than £15m to seal a deal.

Including Bendtner now back at the Emirates from his Sunderland loan, Arsenal have 6 strikers if you include Giroud, Gervinho, Chamakh, Podolski and Van Persie.

10m Euros from Juventus. LOL. Do me a favour.

Treble it and we might start talking.
