Mancini was pretty insistent. There were NO weasel words for future wriggle room...
"Both Dzeko and Tevez will stay at City. We are a great team and we try to keep all our great players. It won't be easy but they will stay here."

RVP is too old, is injury prone and will have no resale value.
This "no resale value" argument annoys me more than the "he's too injury prone"

Not every player is bought with the intention to sell them at a profit, or at all.

And every player is "injury prone", some are just more unlucky than others.

Agree but then again most players are bought with the intention that there is some resale value that may be 10% - 50% or 150% of whatever the player was bought for - cant think of may clubs that allow players to see out their contract most are slld if they wont commit with 12 or 18 months to go - RvP -DJ are such examples
Obviously when a player is signed, you can't judge how they'll feel 5-10 years down the line.

The deal for RVP, if there ever was one, is dead in the water

I think City and Mancini were waiting to see Tevez's attitude in training and to sus out if we were going to have a repeat of last Summer and the transfer requests.

So we keep the best strike-force in the Premiership together, and concentrate on strengthening one or two positions if possible. This is the best outcome possible

I wouldn't underestimate Balotelli's impact at the Euro's either. Maybe Mancini saw enough to convince him how much of a role he can play next season.
That must be true.

I wasn't a big fan of Balotelli last season. I think everyone had their doubts as to his potential, but he was amazing at the Euros. I think the penny has dropped regarding his football. certainly hope so. The claims that he can be the best player in the world don't look as stupid as they did 6 months ago. His form must surely have had an impact on the manager's thinking

Hmmmmm, do I believe your wishful thinking or Tolmie's genuine info?

It's a toughie...
Logic and Roberto Mancini say he'll stay. Mancini's comments to the Italian media are as forthright as you can get
Tevez and Dzeko will stay at Manchester City

Pretty much ensures that RVP will stay at Arsenal, or go elsewhere because Mario and Sergio are going nowhere.

If you were City manager the risk would be that Tevez continues to agitate for a move, but if you were convinced he'd stay then you'd be mad to replace him. He is the best full stop
If only managers, and everyone in football, always told the truth..

It isn't realistic to keep both Carlos and Edin. Unless Edin doesn't mind being 4th striker and getting the odd start here and there.
It is if you are playing in the Champions League and FA Cup. Tevez can play in midfield too.

Thats a great point, Balotelli did finally deliver and show the potential that Mancini always saw in him. I dont think he actually would off left but that combined with the new look attitude of Tevez made Mancini seriously think about our striking options. If we replce Dzeko surely it would be with a similar sort off player, that that extra option off playing it in the air. But i really like Dzeko, partly because he's a nice guy and i think he is a good player that has alot more to offer than just the aerial game, see forth goal against spurs. He obvisously works on confidence which will always be an issue with a squad that rotates, and no quality out and out wingers.

To be honest. Kun, Mario, RVP and Tevez does look a tad excessive. Madrid have Benzema, Higuain and Ronaldo. Barca Messi, Villa and ???? Chelsea Sturridge, Torres.

Why do we need 4 world class strikers when no other team in the world has even two, apart from Madrid.

You need 4 in England. When Utd won the treble they had 4. last season they had 7 though the weren't all top class

-- Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:18 pm --

If the reports are accurate and up to date then they are very significant

I actually don't think Utd have 4 world class strikers. At a pinch Rooney. But to put Welbeck and the mexican in the same bracket as our quartet, or Benzema, Ronaldo, Messi is ridiculous. Nor did Chelsea when they won the PL two years ago. Drogba, Anelka and ???

Also, why do some people think these players have to leave now ?

Dzeko may be unhappy at being 4th choice last season but that doesn't automatically mean he isn't willing to fight for his place try & get more games.

He may think he can get in the team more often & do better. We are Champions & pay big wages & are trying to win the Champion's League. Mancini is saying how this is a big season for Balotelli, if he goes mental, Dzeko may get his job & Mario may go.

I don't know what will happen, but if I was Dzeko or Tevez, I'd be perfectly happy to at least try to get games at City. If it doesn't work out, then I could leave next season, when incidentally, RVP would be available to sign for whoever he wants, if still at Arsenal.
