Saying that United are skint is just plain rubbish. Their revenue alone is massive and can only be compared to the likes of Barca and Real Madrid.

They may have been quiet in the past transfer seasons but Baconface isn't stupid. He knows when a threat comes around, and like it or not we are a threat to them. THEY WILL SPEND IF NEEDED. I think the best way we can go from here is if we get some signings in as well to make a statement to the PL that we won't give up the title that easy.

Signing RVP would be a start, but only if Mancini and the board agree to release a striker in our squad

No, what I am trying to say is that they are not really bidding for anyone in my view as I think it’s just a ploy to gain credibility in selling shares in the US, I just don’t think they have a large transfer kitty and from what I glean they can’t pay the wages these sold called players they are in for will demand.

Just my belief.

Well I hope your right, but I would be surprised, if say Hazard had decided to join them United would have pulled out. This would prove far more damaging to the clubs credibility than just saying you are happy with the squad. Also I am not a huge businessman but I would have though corporate Joe in America would be more interested in the books, profits etc than the bidding for a Brazilian kid most football fans haven't even heard of.

They will be relying on the 659 billion clueless fans around the galaxy to buy them shares. Not corporate joe.

If that is true they dont need to make up imaginary bids to appease US investors as suggested. Fans would buy regardless of bids for brazilian kids. For the record I agree with you, just trying to work out the benefits of these so-called "false" bids City fans are clinging on too.

I think they are genuinely in for them just as chelsea have their own targets as well. Hope Mancini and the board go for our targets as well, and not targets just to prevent players from going to the rags

I think they are as well. In fact there is no doubt about it. Bidding for lots of players and failing would do nothing for Uniteds credibility and would only further frustrate and alienate fans opposed to the Glazers.

Similarly I remember the summer of 1993? when we got turned down by numerous players and remember the frustration of the fans. I think it was the summer of the famous Geoff Thomas quote "I would walk to Maine Road".

I do agree with you regarding of our own targets, however, I hope we will stretch the purse strings a bit more if we go head to head with United. Not because its United but more they will be one of our closest rivals next year. Im a bit ambivalent to the signing of RVP but would hate him to go to United as he could make a huge difference.

We have to accept the fact that last season was a season we won with a weakened united and weakened chelsea side. this will not happen again. We have to strengthen our squad or tweak it a little to make we get no more last minute slip ups which would have cost us the league last year. We should be going for Baines in my opinion. this is a player who could take our team to the next level. Imagine the goals Dzeko would get with all those crosses he would get from Baines.

With regards to RVP to united, I don't think they would go there. Like it or not, Arsene still sees United as more of a rival than us. Not just in Footballing concerns but also in commercial value.
So for me its getting a massive contract from the arse which takes him to his retirement.

i have to say.... Baines....... why we have clichy in my opinion the best lb in the country, whats needed a ball playing midfielder and a centre half as competition to lescott's position.

For me it would be a player like Martinez, who can play effectively at centre half or central midfield. I get your point with Baines but Clichy offers us lots of pace in that position and im not sure Baines would offer more than Kolorov going forward.

The signing of Hazard ticked all the boxes, the promise of width, goals, dribbling ability, it was a disaster we didnt manage to sign him. Therefore in some ways I am surprised we havent shown interest in Moura. Unless Mancini just doesnt rate him or he knows United are cast iron favourites to get him.

Someone made a few quid on that transfer

Anyway, soz if already posted

Having seen former team-mates Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri move to rivals Manchester City in the summer, the Dutchman refused to rule out joining them at the Etihad Stadium.

“I do not know,” he said, “for one thing, as an indication, when I came to Arsenal we immediately beat City. But in recent years much has happened in England.

“Nevertheless, I think the Premiership is still the best league in the world, it gives me everything I want.”

The Gunners captain refused to be drawn into criticism of Arsène Wenger’s transfer policy, with many questioning his failure to secure adequate replacements for departed players earlier in the summer.

“I’m not a technical director and coach, I have no input in to it,” the forward insisted.

The only reason you are hearing Bacon face is putting a bid in for ALL the top players is to help the sales of shares in the US. End of me thinks.

What is he using for readies? Deposit returns?

UNITED ARE BROKE, PEOPLE

Do people actually believe this or is it something we say on Bluemoon to actually make us fell better?

They spent over 50 million plus last summer plus Smalling and have spent 20 million this summer already plus having a 30 million bid accepted for Hazard.

I must admit that it makes me smile as well every time I read that the rags are skint. I think they spent more than us last season, and are already up £20m this close season.

The rags business model is predicated on them being the biggest and best. Second place will not sustain them financially. I said after the end of season celebrations had simmered down that baconface will be out all guns blazing this season. They simply cannot afford another season like the last one.

In my humble opinion they will spend lots this transfer window. The most valuable sporting entity in the world can call on loans if necessary.

If this share issue fucks up, they will have to recoup the money to finance these transfers from somewhere.

The Glazers will not fund it.
