Can anybody clear up FFP a bit here (sorry... Can of worms I know). I'm I incorrect in thinking Crocky and Adebayor's wages count shit towards our figures because of when they were signed.

I'm all for shipping them out but if it doesn't actually affect our pretend pandering to Platini....

I have never seen any credible evidence that we have ever been interested in RVP, no one in the know, at either club, has ever indicated a bid exists or that Manchester City have approached Arsenal or RVP through official channels or on the QT.
This story from the beginning has been a hole in a hole, now spun in to the ridiculous.
Mancini interested in an injury prone striker who turns 29 next month, sounds plausible to me, considering how poor our goal scoring record was last season.

Be under no illusion, if Bob wants RvP and he doesn't get him, he will be pissed. Unlike the DDR situation, RvP is available and at what would appear to be a reasonable price, Bob has had to watch Santa Cruz and adeybayor around the squad both of whom cost similar money and are probably on massive wages, then to be told he can't get genuine quality coz these players are still around the squad must be infuriating.

Agreed mate.

I'd like to think though that Bob will have received assurances about available funds before he put pen to paper on his 5 year deal.
Surely more reasonable than the mirror story.

Anyone who applies their mind to this absurd story can see it's preposterous. The press have constantly reminded us that this is the richest contract in British football history (Wenger, anyone?). Do they seriously believe that transfer targets and strategy didn't constitute a large part of those discussions? Of course they don't. What they do believe is that many readers will believe anything they write, however.

You're right, this is journalism as shovelling shit. Anyone who knows anything about contract negotiations and the nature of buying and selling understands the dynamic between buyers and sellers is driven not just by available funds but the desirability of the commodity on offer.
City will offload its less desirable players late on in the transfer window at a timescale and price driven by lukewarm buyers.
RVP is a desirable commodity so Arsenal will play out the negotiations, pitting one buyer against another, sprinkling rumours and rubbish to drive up the price, it is the one good thing Arsenal does above all others.
I still doubt that City are interested in RVP and even if we are, the idea that Mancini and Marwood are at each others throats is believable only to the naive.

when mancini signed his new contract he would have known what the limits was also we was also prepared to splash 30 million on hazard so why not throw 20 million at rvp the papers are trying to make stories up with no relevance i bet the chairmen marwood and mancini are laughing at the press because they are just aload of parasites no offence to any journos on bluemoon tho :-)

That headline doesn't even make any fucking sense. Him or me suggests he goes or I go.

Congratulations to the Mirror though. They've managed to go even further down in my estimation. A truly remarkable feat.

The writer of this john cross has just been on talkshite backing it up..
As good as said marwood and mancini were at each others throats..
He also said he is fairly sure he doesnt fancy city and wants utd..

But isn't John Cross (Gooner) the one who was telling us all a month ago... that a deal was done as far back as march?

didn't you just know that these red tops were going to report a bust up between mancini and mar wood due to a lack of activity so far??? boring wankers!!! we all know that come the end of the window that RSC adebayor Weiss etc will be outa the door!!! as we all know there will be incomings too!!!

the pre 2010 rule was only relevant this year, they will be on the FFPR books next season.

Do we? I would certainly like to think so but I'm not certain. Perhaps we are just saying that to comfort ourselves.

A slightly different slant on things,

The bookies have made Manchester United the favourites to land Robin van Persie – presumably on the basis that Sir Alex Ferguson is the only manager who has publicly declared an attempt to sign the want-away Arsenal star. You would have to be mad to believe it, and van Persie would have to be crazier still to fall for Fergie’s overtures. City hold all the aces in this three-way game of transfer window poker, despite keeping their own desires under their hats. Boss Roberto Mancini said last season that he would make a move for van Persie if he ever got the chance, and the fact that the Gunners have now given up on the Dutchman staying at the Emirates would appear to be that chance. Arsene Wenger underlined the fact that van Persie will leave by, as the Gunners began their Far East tour, saying: “Van Persie is a world-class striker and I am a big supporter of him. I have supported him through his whole career. He has one year left and is in demand but our desire is to keep him. “However, we will do what is in the best interest of the club. If you have a decoder in your head you can decode that. The official transfer deadline is August 31 but then we can create an internal deadline.” Asked if that was before the new season kicks off, he replied: “Of course. I believe the transfer market should stop before the season starts anyway.” Juventus are the other party involved in this fight, but they would struggle to compete with debt-laden United for van Persie, never mind taking on the wealth of City’s owner Shiekh Mansour. Juve posted record losses of £74million last season, a situation described as ‘intolerable’ by their president Andrea Agnelli. Last week, top Italian agent Mino Raiola – after settling the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from AC Milan to Paris St Germain – said that the days when Italian clubs bought top players are over. More challenges await battle-hardened Micah Richards For Juve to buck that trend, and do so in the face of competition from two of Europe’s most powerful clubs, would be remarkable. In fact, it could only happen if van Persie had set his heart on leaving England. The bottom line is that, when it comes to buying van Persie, City can outbid both of their rivals, and offer the player a wage closest to his reported £200,000-a-week demand. Ferguson has been unusually vocal about United’s transfer market activity, confirming the Reds are in for van Persie and then letting it be known that they are also chasing Brazilian wonderkid Lucas Moura. United are normally very cloak-and-dagger about their transfer deals. Could it be a coincidence that all of this excitement, the tempting prospect of two new talents heading for Old Trafford, has something to do with the fact that the Reds still have season tickets for next season  to sell? Van Persie, like every other football lover in the country, will have sat down to watch the Manchester derby on April 30, as City and United tussled for supremacy at the pinnacle of English football. Like everyone else who saw that game, he must have got the distinct impression that he was watching a fading empire being overthrown by a thrusting new power. United looked weak, timid and suffering from an inferiority complex, nothing like the Reds of old. City, without playing particularly well, looked like a team on a mission, brimming with determination and a sense of destiny. United, constricted by their debt and the Glazer family’s attempts to find ways of paying it off, could quite easily become the new Arsenal, unable to match the big clubs in spending power, and clinging to past glories. Van Persie has hinted that his next move will be to a club which will help him win things, after spending eight years at Arsenal with just an FA Cup winner’s medal to show for it. Having seen the derby, and then witnessed City celebrating the title as Fergie and his team looked punch-drunk at the Stadium of Light, surely the decision will have been made for him? In a nutshell, City can pay more to land him, they can pay van Persie more to attract him, and they can offer him a greater chance of winning trophies. Is there really a decision to be made? MEN.

John Cross was the man who, along with rag boy Ferguson lickspittle David McDonnell, libelled Aguero late last season by inventing the 'story' that his foot injury was caused by crashing a mini-motorbike.
His story aimed to portray Sergio as unprofessional and stupid, and City as a chaotic organisation in turmoil.
Both were defamatory and untrue. The story was run by no other organisation and turned out to be complete bollocks.
I have been asking both men for a retraction and apology on a weekly basis via Twitter. They completely ignore my requests and McDonnell has now even blocked me. Neither has ever stood by his story or defended himself.
The motto is, ignore anything this clown writes about City — especially where his beloved Arsenal are involved.

The title of that piece is surprising

Why Robin van Persie would be crazy to pick Manchester United over Manchester City

Isn't Brennan a United fan? He seems to take journalism very seriously.

Could it be a coincidence that all of this excitement, the tempting prospect of two new talents heading for Old Trafford, has something to do with the fact that the Reds still have season tickets for next season to sell?

That's pretty blunt. Glad someone in the media said it.

On a different note 90% on here want marwood out we still haven't replaced Gary cook instead of taking all arsenal's players why don't we make a move for Ivan Gazidis (arsenal chief ex) he is a lifelong city fan & maybe that's why he has sold so many players to us & hopefully RVP aswell

Juve now bookies favourites (1.73), Rags next (2.1), us 3rd (2.75), Skybet.
Not much in it, probably reflects the clubs' bids are fairly close and Arsenal wont want to sell to a PL rival.
