The worrying thing with this RVP thing is that if we get him, will the cycle continue?

We got Santa Cruz and Ade and they are hard to offload....if we get RVP is it Dzeko or Tevez that will take Ade's spot as the top striker on big wages that we just loan around and teams just continue to take advantage on us like Spurs with Ade?

Please god I hope we do get RVP, amen

+1 - chances to get one of the best strikers in the world do not come along too often.

This signing is wrong for us on so many levels, I just hope its all media hype. Besides I hate the **** ;)

Do you?? You've not said mate!! :-)

I said in a recent post that I believe RVP will do a u-turn and sign a new deal, especially if Wenger signs up Cazorla and Sahin on loan. RVP is going to struggle getting his 200k a week demands IMO.

I also think that none of our strikers will be sold this Summer, we have too many in the sqaud and its evident we are struggling to offload them for the prices we are demanding, not forgetting these players do not want to take wage cuts!

I am confident that our strike-force can do a job next season, Tevez is back and Kun is now settled. There are other positions I believe are much more important that we need to be adding to - Yaya backup for January and a good CB backup, a winger would be nice as well.

And following on with that cycle in two years time when RVP has been a total flop because he's spent so much time out with those bad knees he has and we want to buy the next striker up and he's no longer flavour of the month, guess what we'll be stuck with RVP and not be able to shift him, and everyone will be slagging him off as they are slagging Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz off.

Annoys me whenever I read blues criticising Savic. We used to give our young players time and support.

I'm not criticising the lad. Just don't think he's ready yet to step into Kompany's shoes if he were to (god forbid) pick up a long term injury.

I'm not panicking or spoilt, just discussing where I feel we need to strengthen, and whether we should sign a top quality player like RVP if he is available. You mention Mancini, but I'd speculate that his views are closer to mine than yours......

Well if you know Mancini better than me, I'm outta here!

No point taking this any further if you've got the inside track...

;-))

You do know what the word speculate means don't you? ;)

"You're making it up?"

Anyway, back to speculation. I reckon Mancini is closer to my thoughts than yours. And the voice inside my head confirmed that.

-- Sun Jul 29, 2012 3:09 pm --

Superbly summed up my good man.

If one aspect of "Typical City" never seems to go, it's that we sell cheap, buy expensive, and struggle to off-load. And it's been like that for as long as I can remember.

Even Allison's ludicrous signing-spree saw us off-loading most of them for a fraction of what we'd paid... and that simply topped off him selling all our internationals for a pittance as well.

We have history for this. And I doubt even Marwood or Mancini can fight that depth of history...

Maybe a season to allow things to calm down would be a good thing.
