So for all his bluster regarding City and Mancini not blooding youngsters and not giving youth a chance, Taggart puts a 29-year old, Dutch rapist, with a terrible injury record ahead of his young strikers, like Welbeck & Hernandez?

Would Manchester City do that?
Woah rapist?

The media have started already.

BBC Sports David Ornstein on Twitter.

"RvP move not motivated by money. On a far better deal at Arsenal than people knew & could have earned more elsewhere than he'll get at Man Utd."

Wasn't there talk today that he hasn't even discussed personal terms yet, just the rags have had a bid accepted.

All subject to medical and personal terms to be done.

So to say he could have got more else where is bollocks.

Another Hitler parody; only this one made me laugh

I think RVP is a big, big gamble by Ferguson, and it shows how wounded and bitter he is about our taking the title from them in the last minute of the season.

He has gone against his own pious declarations (see quote below from May 2012) that Man U don't spend a fortune on proven players from another club, and if they don't win the league this season, the the gamble will have backfired and Fergie's time at United will be in danger of stumbling to an acrimonious end.

In truth I think RVP is an asset to them and will improve their prospects, BUT at huge cost.

The pressure on us has reduced (relatively), but has been ramped up hugely on them now ... it will be an interersting season, that's for sure!!

And I think we will beat them again - now how sweet would that be?? :)

We invest in young players. That is what we are good at – we're not like other clubs who can spend fortunes on proven goods. We know that City are going to spend fortunes, pay stupid money, pay silly salaries and all that. We can't do anything about that. We concentrate on what we can do to try to bring players in for the right reasons. We invest in players who will be with the club for a long time, who will create the character of the club, who will create excitement for our fans, and we are very proud of that and we are going to continue that way.
— Sir Alex Ferguson saying Manchester United will not spend money extravagantly like Manchester City / May 14, 2012

-- Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:01 am --

Another hilarious Fergie quote;
It’s true that City became rich in an incredible way, but it is not the fact that there is a new owner and new ambitions which necessarily change things. The difference is perhaps that we’re trying to build with youth.
— Sir Alex Ferguson / April 24, 2012

As I said, pressure is on him now, big time.

Yeah im sure the 160k a week he's on at Utd is well below the minimum wage.

His agent will already have made his terms clear to all parties

Reports I have read suggest 200 to 220k pw and parity with Rooney

Might be fair to say that the player's motivation on leaving Arsenal was trophies. At 29 I don't blame him on wanting to fight for titles, and I am sure deep down most Arsenal fans don't either.

Excerpt taken from Wiki lies

Berbatov moved to Manchester United on 1 September 2008, costing the club £30 million and signing a four-year contract. (at age 27)

It is because of these characteristics (tactical acumen, skill, physical stature)that he was signed by the swamp dwellers, who intended for Berbatov to complement the combative and busy style of their English striker Wayne Rooney. Whereas Rooney is known for exerting himself vigorously and verbally abusing referees for the entirety of a match, Berbatov employs a more laid-back and composed style, and because of this is sometimes criticised by observers who interpret this as laziness

Now, doesn't this ring some bells? They paid over the odds for someone to partner ruggy at the beginning of the season as a desperate measure to stop us signing him. He didn't set the world on fire and had one good season in front of goal (although scoring never was his greatest attribute).

To me bacon chops is repeating the same strategy.

To be fair I thought this a few hours ago, but if my memory serves me right I think we tried hijacking the deal from united? I could be wrong though.

Either way another bullet dodged!
