robin van persie (continued)

A desperate signing. It smacks of desperation. There's many reassuring imponderables still for that team. Will Van Persie's fitness last another entire season bearing in mind his overall record? Will Vidic return as good as he was before and indeed for how long? Will Camelgob's form and fitness deteriorate further still? Will the best they have on standby at centre half still be Johnny (not good) Evans? This does look like Fergie's last throw of the dice. He's on the precipice.

Top marks for effort though.

As I have said in my previous posts on this subject if RVP stays fit then him and Shrek will cause problems for most teams.
However, I don't see this as being the end for Wellbeck as many are predicting - infact just the opposite. Don't be surprised if RVP and Wellback start as their 2 main strikers in a lot of games. Shrek will be play just behind both of them and try and pull the strings. I think Ferguson will see Shrek as 'the creative midfielder' they are currently missing. As we know, like or not Shrek can cause problems from this position and he does know where the net is and he can finish so could be dangerous if he does sit behind the main 2 strikers. Throw in Valencia and the diving swan on the wings delivering good service (which they do) and all of a sudden it doesn't look to bad. Add the return of Vidic who is to them what VK is to us and you have to admit that they will be there or thereabouts.
I still genuinely believe we have a far superior squad and more talented players and for this reason we will finish above them. My only really worry is if Tevez is still with us after the January transfer window. We all know for sure he just cannot be trusted not to throw in a transfer request come Christmas.
I still think Chelski we challenge strongly and will be a much better team in the EPL than last season - as we know they effectively jacked it in for circa 8 weeks to rid of AVB. This won't happen this year.
Thats the top 3 sorted (could be in any order) so it makes for a very interesting season. Again as I have said in previous posts: Whiskey Nose HAS to win the title in what will almost be for sure his final season. He will concentrate on this fully and will be willing to sacrifice all other competitions to do it including the Chimps League.
My prediction:
City
Chelski
Scum
Spurs
This means the arse and Wenger will miss out on the Chimps League and that will finally be the end of him.
Can't wait!

Don't get where this 'desperate' signing is coming from, from some of us?

We can debate whether last season was a 'career' season (as Matty asserts - and I don't necessarily disagree) and we can debate his injury record too, however, if he had chosed us and not them, would we have the same opinions?

Now don't get me wrong, I did not want him at City UNLESS we were getting rid of one of our strikers and it appears we are not. However, if you look back at last season, RvP scored some absolute quality goals and the sheer quantity as well? He will improve their attack force, assuming he carries that momentum through and stays injury free of course.

Don't forget, we are asking our club to sign a 29 yr old, unproven in the Prem, midfield player with sciattica for a similar fee.

As I have posted previously, this will make it harder for us to win the league again this year, however I am confident we still will.
