Rubbish. If you've got players like Bridge bombing forward (which he does alot), then you expect a bit of cover from your wingers. Seems tactically clueless to leave a big gap where your left back was....No-one is expecting them to become an extra defender, just provide the cover when needed.

My point was tracking back, not covering. The two are very different. If the full back overlaps, you expect the winger to fill in just in case there is a counter attack.

Tracking back is different, Robbie, Petrov etc hugged the half way line and they were criticised because they didnt get back to help out. That is not their job, as Svennis explained.

SWP and AJ can do it....why can't they ? They all played in wing positions.

The real point for me is that he needs to keep his ego in check and do as the manager asks with full effort, regardless of whether he agrees with it or not. If he keeps his ego in check then maybe, just maybe there's hope.

Anyway, lets see him do it against better opposition than the lowest ranked team in the World Cup before we start singing his praises again....

Robinho is one of the best in the world when he has the freedom to play how he wants and where he likes. Any manager that expects Robinho to track back and make tackles is a fucking idiot that has no faith in he ability of his players whose job it is to do those tasks.

Im sick to death of this culture that attacking players are supposed to do the dirty jobs. I swear to god only 5 years ago flair players were there to do the glamour jobs, splitting defences in half, pulling defenders all over the place and scoring and assisting. Now they are expected to be master of all trades.

Robinho should be in this team and playing centrally behind our strikers. Let Tevez run back. If nine of our outfield players cant defend as a unit then we really are inept. We play with two, sometimes three holding midfielders as well as four defenders. Add the goalie on top and thats eight of our first team geared towards defending and yet we still expect players like Robbie to be back there. Its bullshit, inept, negative tactics.

i dont see anyone on here moaning when Bridge isnt pulling off stepovers, cutting inside and dragging opposition defenders across the box.

We have to get him back because on his day he is a truly world class player when played in the right position and not ****ing tracking back!! we have the 'water carriers' in the team to let Robbi play his natural game and to be a match winner.

Read on BBC's gossip column that we are allowing permission for the rags to buy robi for £30m????

Another made up story by bored journos. If he does move across, and have a good season, i can see the media saying it was the signing of the season and give robi player of the year or something ridiculous like that just because he's in a rag shirt.

I saw it too, was a bit shocked but it kind of came off and stopped the Korean's attack down the flank.

If only he had the same determination playing for us...hope he returns and plays a blinder.

He made a few successful tackles early last season, looked really up for it before his injury.
