robinho - the superstars ARE coming

All of this the players know who is coming and who is leaving blah blah blah seems a bit far fetched to me.

Surely it couldn't just be that a group of players lumped together are getting used to each other, the manager now knows their strengths and weaknesses.

No fuck that its too simple it must be a conspiracy by the players against the manager

have said before, the improvement in form is down to the "finishing line" being in sight for the players of seeing Hughes gone - they are playing for their futures under the new regime.

No.

The improvement in form is down to two main factors.
1) Being knocked out of the UEFA Cup means a small squad lacking strength in depth is no longer playing two games a week, thus having more time to recover and train.
2) After a long season of transition Hughes seems to finally be getting to know what his best team is. Hughes' signings are settling in and becoming more important to us game by game. Hughes did say that his teams are stronger at the back of the season due to his strict fitness regime, maybe, just maybe he was right. Also, Hughes has realised and accepted Elano's strengths and weaknesses and learned how to get the best out of him.

I've made my feelings towards Hughes pretty clear all season, but credit where it's due.

i agree to a certain degree, i was being maybe a little oversimplistic, however let's be brutally honest when we say that the 2 home wins against WBA and Blackburn were hardly spellbinding performances - both teams had more chances on goal than we did and imo although happy we won both they are games that could have easily gone the other way.

Everton, again i was there, was a great away performance but again it has to be said we played them at EXACTLY the right time when they were fucked and had just won their FA semi.

Sorry but i don't see this great improved performance that you all see, the main difference that has got us the points are the performances of the Brazilian duo hence my original comments in thread.

same last year.. the conspiracy was that we were playing shite to keep the manager in a job. Now we're playing out of our skins to get the manager sacked.. you couldn't make it up.

can we have a brightest fans thread please... judging by some on here I think we'd be in trouble

Yeah but mate you can't just praise the Brazilians when we win and slag Hughes off when we lose! What you're saying is when we win it's fuck all to do with the manager and everything to do with the Brazilians, and vice versa when we lose, ffs.

I ain't ITK, seems a little odd and strange that they would play well for the old manager, surely it would be the opposite, get him sacked then play well when the new one is appointed, if they get it wrong and win all games to end of season and qualify for Europe might just save MHs bacon. Only my observation.

what i mean though mate is that the decision is already made and i sense Robbie knows it from his earlier comments, hence the improvement in form - i think you only have to look at Hughes' demeanour in interviews to know he is aware he is gone, will be on a decent bonus for getting 7th and then "clear your desk".
Rubbish. Hughes is quietly spoken. That's just his style. Read De Jong's interview

it was a pretty remarkable leap forward in team spirit, and the morale of the brazilians...... i did entertain some foolish notions for a while... on balance the most likely explanation would seem to be that the the Hamburg game lifted them out of their comfort zone and ignited some real pride amongst the team, wouldn't it?

but this is city. the fifth column is what it's all about, it seems. you know what, now i'm gonna make a truly outrageous argument.... Hughes has to go because his reign seems to invite conspiracy theories and unrest at every turn.

there, that sort of makes sense to my sleep deprived mind, who cares wether it's fair or not, true or not. everything is true if you think it, and being fair is for the weak.....

oh wait, before i lose my mind completely, isn't there a game tommorow? thank god we'll have something 'real' to talk about.
