Robinho

Playing him gives them two players down the right. Hardly any teams double up on him.

I must be watching different games to you then

Right, this is a genuine question which I would like someone to answer. What have you seen from Robinho in a City shirt which has sparked such utter adulation from certain quarters? Flashes of brilliance and 11 goals yes but the bad performances have balanced out the good in my opinion.

I don't hate the lad, as a person or a player, but why is he above criticism? I don't expect him to track back and launch himself into tackles all over the park, however, because of this, I do expect something to happen when he has the ball facing the opposition's goal coming off the left flank. It's these situations that he is in the team to make the most of, but he just isn't producing at the moment.

Remember the Villa game? Remember the high tempo we set from the first minute? Well that's difficult to do when every time the ball goes to Robinho and he puts his foot on it and tries a trick then loses the ball and claims for a free kick. HE IS BADLY OUT OF FORM AND DOES NOT LOOK FIT. So what's the problem? This does not make him a bad player but what it does mean is that we are carrying him and we cannot afford to do that. I think some people are terrified that if he is dropped it reflects badly on us as a club or it is somehow a reflection of Hughes's poor managerial skills. It's neither. He isn't playing well and should be put on the bench. Before you have a go at me, remember, I DON'T HATE HIM AND I DON'T WANT HIM SOLD. However, wouldn't a spell on the bench help all parties?

A very good post there, agree with it all

For some posters he's above any kind of criticism regardless of how badly he plays as the usual reponse is something like "ffs he's the best player we've ever had so just suck up the bad performances"

Robbie did well last night and worked hard, he did make mistakes when trying to defend that nearly cost us though. Thats not his game though and he shouldn't be asked to do that and last night proved why. He's an outright attacking flair player and should never be put in the posistion were he has to defend. And you lot that are asking him to do that and complaining about him not doing that are complete fucking idiots.

some more rational comments there.. people get very defensive over rob.. because of his "status".

He is undoubtedly talented...and i dont dislike him/want him sold, but at the moment he isnt a positive influence on our play. there were too many occasions last night where he literally ran deep and took the ball off one of our own players (who wasnt under pressure) Now i appreciate he wants to get on the ball... but it takes momentum out of our play and then leaves an imbalance in our attacks as we have nothing available down the left from then on.. im not sure he is lacking in confindence as such...as he appears a very confident young man. i just feel its his application that is lacking at the moment.... as he knows he wont be dropped.

Of course he isn't above criticism, but you may have noticed he is often the ONLY player singled out for criticism. And there ARE people that post saying he is absolute shite and should be sold. Funnily enough that kind of thing gets a response.

what exactly did swp and ireland do that robbie did not do that made him the only bad player on the pitch?

they didnt cost us 32 mil and unfortunately that makes a difference to some people on here even though robbie didnt have anything to do with his price tag! he was no way near the worst player last night but some people find it too easy to sslag him off because of his price tag!
