Rodri Injury Updates | City say ligament injury (pg117)

Just having a look at our Premier League record without him since 21-22:

0-0 vs Southampton
6-3 vs Leicester
1-0 vs Brentford
6-3 vs Manchester United
1-2 vs Wolves
0-1 vs Arsenal
0-1 vs Aston Villa
5-1 vs Luton
2-0 vs Chelsea
4-1 vs Ipswich
3-1 vs West Ham

P11 W7 D1 L3

Over a full season that's P38 W24 D4 L10 (76 points)
The's no point looking at past seasons though we won't change how we set up and play for the odd game. For a whole season we will, and in the 4 games we have won without him we already have.Though Lewis' emergence has helped us with that.

Pep says City will see how we do before deciding whether or not to buy in January.

We have to work on the basis he's out for the season and will then need another season getting back to match fitness and sharpness. No guarantee he won't have further issues. Better to try and sign someone in January to give them a head start.

Not enough
Those three defeats in 23/24 were down to other factors beyond Rodri just not being there - a big issue was carrying on like Rodri was there when he wasn't. Villa especially. It's on Pep and the other lads to make sure we find a new system so that Rodri isn't missed as much this season. It's going to be a tough one but we're up for it.

Agreed. Think we'll be seeing a lot of 4-2-3-1 and 3-2-4-1 this season.

I'm inclined to agree. He'll be 29 and coming back from a serious injury. We have to have an eye on the future because reintegrating Rodri will take time and we'll never likely see him play the same number of games in a season ever again. The biggest issue is of course trying to buy top talent mid-season. I believe that it can be done, but will come at a premium.
