Rodri Injury Updates | City say ligament injury (pg117)

We won two titles with a false nine so we can revert to that , we have played lots of ways that pep can change it to suit , or we hope he can

Of all the decent managers out there, Pep is certainly the one who is most likely to come up with a system to make the most of Rodri's absence, maybe until a replacement can be recruited, or longer term as a change to formation or tactics.

Might not be ideal, and we might lose some of our potency as a team, but he certainly won't be sitting around moping and doing nothing.

This is one of his major strengths.

Aguero had a meniscus and he was never the same after that. :(
I don't think you can use Sergio as an example. If I recall correctly, he hid the injury from his teammates, refused to have surgery on it and carried it for 4/5 years before finally giving in and having successful surgery in 2020. Maybe if he'd had it fixed in 2015 or whenever he first damaged it, it would have been far less of an issue.

It's certainly extremely common to damage the meniscus at the same time as an ACL (I've done it) so I doubt it will make any significant difference to recovery. The so-called "unholy trinity" is tearing the ACL, medial meniscus and MCL at the same time. Sounds like Rodders' MCL is ok so it's not the worst case scenario.

Alvarez was never really an out and out striker for us and it beggars belief that Pep and Txiki wouldn’t have had a long in depth convo about whether Pep wanted to bolster our attacking options if Alvarez were to be sold.

Our false 9 option is a much better replacement for big Erl than any striker on the market were he to be injured
Well we'll see, hopefully Erling stays fit and it doesn't matter.

Terrible news but a portent of the future the way fixtures continue to be added to the calendar with lack of recovery time. Rodri warned about it.

The mental and physical stresses and strains on players are taking their toll. Not only do they lead to drops in performance but also increase susceptability to injury. I believe Rodri was neither fully recovered nor properly match fit from the last season and summer. It did not help he was targetted by Arsenal.

Those shortsighted idiots who dismissed Rodri's concerns can only relate to how much elite footballers earn and how little time they spend playing in games even when 2-3 in 7 days. Amateur boxers may fight every week but let them explain why those fighting for world champion titles tend not to even fight every 6 months let alone generate global interest? It is about the preparation and conditioning required to compete at the highest levels which is in no way comparable to say a 12 hour day of physical work.

In a top world class team like City under Pep. few professional players even playing at a very high level, let alone the airmchair critics, can comprehend what it takes to be successful and top of their trade. Millions if not billions follow football and City through Pep and the players as top of the tree with global scrutiny and appeal. The push for money over quality will see a decline in standards and competitiveness with jaded match sharpness, injuries and game management to dilute the fundamental appeal of football.

Less games means more competition games as shown by any knockout competition. More games will lead to fatigue. less competitiveness and more injuries. We have been deprived of seeing a truly great player perform.

I don’t think we will buy for the sake of it. Plenty there for pep to work his magic. I’d keep an eye on Gvardiol personally. I think he might be used there. I’m sure someone will shoot me down though ha ha
I've been thinking the same for quite some time now. Definitely more strings to his bow. He's a very able player indeed.

And it was so that hitherforth twast beknownst ast the Langley Blue Prophecy. Haloed be his name.

For he foretold of the rise of the Gvardiol one on the 7th day

Some people on here need to take a good look at themselves. Seems to me that most are selfishly looking at the impact on our season and hand-wringing about a trophyless season. Arsenal's to lose. We need a new player. Txixi to blame. Blah, blah fucking blah.

Get over yourselves and fucking man up.

How about the impact on Rodders, the person? Best part of a year of gruelling rehab. Set backs. Muscular injuries to follow. More rehab. The mental impact of an elite athlete, in the prime of his career, not being able to contribute.

He's an intelligent bloke, a multi-millionaire, who was fucked over by an impotent referee and a league who hate the club he plays for. If I were him, I'd say fuck this shit, fuck this country who sneer at our achievements and want to wipe us off the face of the earth...

I 've won the lot, done my bit, so adios amigo's, I'm out of here.

..and I wouldn't blame the bloke at all.

Will rodri be able to coach when he is out injured?
Not proper coaching of the team but helping whoever we start playing in his position.
