Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland going to Sweden to see a boyhood friend win the league title with Malmo: "He and his girlfriend Isabelle will be parents soon, we only get a couple of days off.
"He went [to the awards ceremony] last season. Sometimes you go, sometimes you don't. He's free to do what he wants. He doesn't have to explain the reason why. It's not a problem at all. He will be really happy for Rodri, I have no doubt of that."'If Vinicius won the Ballon d'Or, it would have been more than deserved' published at 12:58 GMT

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on Vinicius Jr not winning the Ballon d'Or: "Of course, if [Vinicius] won, it would have been more than deserved.
"It was the same with Erling [Haaland] last year when he didn't win. He was there and congratulated Leo [Messi], then you have to go and try again next season. It's really open and there will be more chances to win.
"I congratulate Carlo Ancelotti for winning the best manager in the world, but it was [Gian Piero] Gasperini or Luis de la Fuente. Of course they deserved it, but people voted and Carlo also deserved it.
"This event has to be a joy, people have to accept the results. As a club, we are so happy that Rodri is the first player in this club to win this award. It's like [winning] the Premier League and Champions League. We are so proud."
