If he's not very mobile, won't there be a concern the frenetic pace of the PL may be difficult for him? If you look at Kante, and Fern, they cover every blade of grass and get to players almost before the ball does. We don't need a lumbering destroyer in midfield.

The only teams who play at a frenetic pace in the EPL are us and Liverpool.
If a player can handle the pace of Real and Barca, he'll probably be able to manage Burnley or the noisy neighbours.

True, we did see that with Javi Garcia and Fernando. Obviously Rodri is a class above but still a concern. Having height in midfield is massive though so we could make it work.

He doesn't look very 'immobile' to me. I think he's just a big unit.

I recon he'd give Gundogan a 2 yard start & beat him over 10. Ferrn has no real pace these days, just works harder than most to cover & sees danger.

It appears Gundogan is talking to City again about a deal, so we could have him to play there, other players who could drop back there if needed, or Gundogan can step forward & we have Fern & this guy, to protect the back 4, both of whom might also fill in at cb.

We don't have a player like this, currently.

He has a release clause that we are willing to activate 70mil euro I think they wouldn't be selling him for that money they would want more. Otamendi is worth 20-30 mil IMHO can't see them accepting 40mil plus otamendi. Plus I don't think godin is retiring last I heard he was heading inter.
