I mentioned a few weeks ago that i believe Van Dijk is the best defender in the world, which is not a wind up and it is my honest opinion and i get harrassed on private message. It is just childish. Very cult like behaviour. Just because a player doesn't play for our team, doesn't mean we can only rate our own players and can't rate other team's players.

Maybe i have rubbed some people up the wrong way, but at the end of the day its not life or death. It is only a game of football. People take it all too seriously.

I actually think Vvd is a little over hyped and that Laporte is on a par if not better but I am probably biased.
Deep down though not looking through my blue tinted lens. I know he's absolute quaility and was gutted when he went from Celtic to Southampton, nevermind to Liverpool.

Your opinion is that your opinion but at times your never gonna get people to see your point of view never mind agree with you no matter how hard you try and crucially they may be spot on not to agree.

Spanish window doesn't open until 1st, so Rodri's release won't be triggered until then. Think the other transfers are dependant on players out, except maybe Maguire.

At this moment, Van Dijk is obviously better as Kompany is only 50% of what he was due to injuries.

The one difference for me is that City never quite made it on the European stage with Kompany and Van Dijk has won a Champions league in his 2nd season already at Liverpool competing against the best players in the world.

I loved Kompany, thought he was brilliant, but for some reason people seem to only recognise players when they achieve European success and not just domestic success.

Modric and Ronaldo winning the world player of the year over Messi is an indicator of that.

Joking apart,have you ever actually absorbed what VK did for us in his time with us ? Winning things aside he was our leader,captain,and everything to deserve the title of Mr Manchester City.

He came for a pittance,and etched himself into City's folklore,with huge leadership qualities,a humble guy to boot,so if VVd wins a CL so fucking what ? Will he become an Anfield legend >? Will he fuck,he be off to Spain in a season or 2 especially when they don't win the league.

And competing against the best players in the world ? What the CL ? I think you will find the PL pisses all over that comment

Plus, van Dijk knows he can act with impunity in and around the box regarding fouls and hand ball because of who he plays for. I'd still love him at City, but he's not in Vinny's class.

How am I putting our players down? I have just said both players in their prime are as good as eachother and both have different qualities. You could argue Kompany at this moment in time has been the better defender due to longevity in the Premier League. Van Dijk i believe is better technically and his positional awareness is superb, whereas Kompany is stronger physically and is a better leader.

At this moment in time, i don't think anyone can dispute that Van Dijk is the better player now, that is of course due to the terrible injuries Kompany has suffered which limited his game time.

I love Kompany, he has been an absolutely unbelievable player for us, but i also rate Van Dijk very highly and if he played for us, we would be absolutely raving about him just like the Dippers are. I can appreciate quality when i see it.

Word of advice... Don't let the Dippers unbearable nature skew your opinion on one of their players. Just imagine he plays for Real Madrid and things will be alright.

All football contracts start 1st July thats why a winter window signing will have a x.5 year contract I understand that if a player signs eg 1st August the selling club will have the player's July salary refunded and the player's contract with new club starts 1st July
I guess its the reason that the Puma announcement will be post 1st July
