What I'm trying to (clumsily) say is that I think that Rodri Atleti and City are all respectful of each other to ensure that everyone gets what they want.
By holding off finalising the deal Atleti can source their replacement of choice without being ripped off by a seller who knows that they're desperate to sign a replacement for an important player.

Perhaps they offloaded him for 2 euros but lent 39m+ euros of the Kings or State money to the purchasing team to help RM:s FFP position?

Llorente is extremly high rated. But for some reason Zidane doesn't like him. Real fans are furious over this deal. Llorente is a deep lying playmaker like rodri and there aren't that many great ones on the market
