Rodrygo

That’s before working out how Foden gets in the team.
Marmoush will go off for AFCON, Echeverri on loan, Haaland, Bobb and Doku will have their minutes managed.
There will probably be a period of time where Foden, Rodrygo and Cherki will be our only available forwards with our injury luck. Most teams would dream of that depth. He has a place in this team.

Absolutely, but he’s not a guaranteed starter at present.

With the amount of games we play, rotation guys and impact subs have immense value too though.

The idea of a first XI is probably irrelevant now.
Also think that this season, we will have a huge amount of tactical flexibility. We have the squad to play the 4 1 2 3, but can also go 3 at the back, with decent wingbacks & 2 upfront - with lots of options in between. Really are positioned well to do well in multiple competitions

We don’t need him. 6 goals and 5 assists last season and foden, marmoush, Bobb and cherki all more than capable.
That are my thoughts but I guess Pep likes him. We also play a 4-3-3 it seems so 7 for 3/4 positions should be enough.

80M and 275k/week for Marmoush to sit on the bench

We did this shit before last season convincing ourselves we have enough then suddenly we have a few injuries and we are in free fall. It's a squad game nowadays, everyone will get plenty of minutes and time to shine. Nobody is entitled to a reserved spot in the team, if you don't play well someone else in coming in your spot. Competition brings the best out of top players.

Back on topic I think this gets done, just think we're delaying Sav to Spurs until we've played them then things will move very quickly.

I don’t think they will be waiting until we play Spurs - I don’t think we can afford to wait. Let’s say Arsenal or Chelsea struggle next weekend, they could pull the trigger on Rodrygo and/or Donnarumma. We will leave ourselves vulnerable to circumstances out of our control

Not saying Marmoush will/must be a bench player but it would be nice to have a squad allowing us to rotate 3-5 players each game like we used to do without the quality dropping significantly.
He doesn’t have to be but his skillset isn’t suited for the wings and that’s where he gets his most minutes from. Marmoush is better in the middle but used more on the left. It’s a bit irritating if u just bought 2 LW‘s for like 80M each. One of them won’t be happy over time. This can easily turn into another Alvarez case where a player doesn’t have a real piston in the system. Not against squad depth. Just one of those 2 cancels the other out. Especially if pep prefers the 4-3-3.
