Roger Daltrey: Rolling Stones a Mediocre Pub Band

On The Who vs Stones debate, I wouldn't even want to choose between them. Two of my favourite bands.

you don't have to just enjoy them both. i hate we are the best ? its daft because they don't play/sing the same songs
if they did sing the same songs then you could judge them

Exactly, you can personally prefer, but doesn't make a band better....i'm sure the beatles are better musicians than my cat, but i'd rather hear my cat being sick than listen to their music ;)

I must have forgotten that Foggy........
It has been for, what, 40+ years? I never tire of it. I heard it on the radio once in grade school as I was doing my homework one night and was transitioning personally away from the pop station to the rock station, and I went after school and bought Who’s Next the next day. And the rest is history.

Very true. The Who did once make a decent fist of covering a Stones' song,

there was a market for both of them at the time so they must have been doing something right
the who did a cover of the beach boys song barbara ann and it was shocking

The Who - Barbara Ann

So you were... Playin all night, and the music's alright...

Daltrey is and always has been a king sized knob as his political 'thoughts' prove beyond doubt. Having seen both bands in the last 5 years I am pretty certain that the Rolling Stones piss all over The Who as a live performance. Daltrey in particular voice has gone and is a cumbersome relic behind the mike that he still insists on throwing in the air and dropping regularly.
Jagger and Richards on the other hand....

As far as legacy go, the Who made some good records but honestly I think the Stones shade that too.
This post needs to be filed under the wtf thread.
Daltreys political opinions bear what relevance to either bands talent or influence ?
You've seen the septuagenarians performances over the last 5 years and that counts for anything in relation to how any serious appreciation of either band should be judged.
Daltreys voice at 77 is not what it was, who'd have thunk it.
If you're going to make a case for the stones being ahead on relevance and quality you've got
to do better than this.

If you broke it down to individual talent or eaxh original member or the bands, I would.say the who in Townsend and particulary Entwhistle had the two best musicians of the lot of them.

But as bands both have their good stuff and their average to poor stuff like any band, and both are a decent listen.
