Roll call for 9 minute protest

Of course it does and having three kids of my own, I understand the pressure. I brought them up understanding that (when we had 3) they usually got one at the start of the season as a treat and then had to use birthdays or Christmas to get the others.

The club has to make money obviously. Add in to that, they have to meet PSR. If there's a shortfall, they can't risk getting done by the Premier League and being deducted points when we are (usually) in a title race.

They try different ways to make more money and an easy win is kit manufacturers. Puma will want us to pump as much merchandise as we possibly can. If they offer us more money to squeeze another away kit in, we'll likely take it. I'm happy that we change our kit for one game per season if it means that we as a fanbase are looked after on tickets. Unfortunately, this isn't the case and ticket prices, distribution and application of tickets is all over the show.

That's why I replied to the list saying that the change of kit against Inter Milan was an oddity on the list. We did it before against Middlesbrough and I expect we'll do it again.
I understand why they do it, it doesn't make it right and whilst it isn't the biggest problem, it is another example of the path our club has taken. I remember laughing at United for one new kit a season. Now we have 4 with another TWO planned for the club world cup. It is a disgrace. Playing in that dog shit kit against Inter is another example and whilst it may not bother you, many hated it. Just as we hated it against Boro 20 years ago or however long it was. Doing it whilst we was crap, with different owners is irrelevant to doing it now with our current owners. It should never happen, playing in next years home shirt last game of the season is bad enough when that happens.

But there lies the issue, too MANY, fucking hell if we lined up all the grievences it would run into dozens, i feel a demonstration should have been ONE thing, personally it should be ticket prices, something fans of EVERY CLUB can get behind.
Fans of pretty much every club are supporting each other on the various issues that each fanbase has with their respective clubs.

I'm not being funny but seeing the stuff you've posted in the past, even if it was just about ticket prices tonight you wouldn't have backed it anyway. Your posts often come across as shilling for the club - a kind of "If you don't like it, tough shit" kind of attitude

Shouldn’t the shirts be an affordable price so you have the choice whether to buy them or not? They cost a couple of pounds to manufacture.

The first set of Umbro shirts were £30 each when the Sheik first took over. The designs were the best we’ve ever had as the fans were consulted over their designs.
Yes, they should. Unfortunately, due to many years of football supporters (myself included) continuing to pay ridiculous amounts for shirts, they will continue to hike the prices.

Your first line - "So you have the choice whether to buy them or not" - forgive me for asking the obvious, but how are you currently not given the choice?

A little taken aback by the level of vitriol on this thread.

If you don’t choose to protest, that absolutely your right. Personally (just my opinion) I have always believed that standing up for those that have been negatively impacted and will be in the future, is something you should always do – even if the ‘exact’ call for action may not be absolutely definitive.

I respect other Blues who don’t share that belief, but I would kindly suggest that the announcement on Viagogo is a perfectly appropriate moment to say ‘enough’.

I will be there at 7pm (currently on the train from London – and yes, I will be spending over £250 on hotels and travel, as always for a midweek home game), and hope as many of my fellow Blues will be there too.

Has this been rather quickly organised? Would I have preferred a 15min pre-half time walk out? Could the communications have been slightly better? Yes to all, but none of that means this isn’t something to rally behind.

I sat behind a row of Bournemouth fans in the City end on Sunday, who all bought tickets from an ‘exchange’, as I did at the Orient FA Cup game – and to be honest, on that issue alone I support this protest. But as others have said – this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Ignoring City Matters, no new Season Cards, no discussions on the North Stand, tickets allocations and yes – tourists.

I want the entire world to support City. I love my club, and love that gone are the days that I used to have tell taxi drivers on holiday that there was another club in Manchester that played in Blue.

However, the current situation is untenable. There is a genuine risk of public safety and obviously, the atmosphere is so completely shite because CFG care more about the ROI of each plastic seat than fans (and I am not a totally myopic nostalgic FOC about Maine Road).

But there is so much more – we have one of the lowest social economic demographics across fan bases in the Premier League, and the season-on-season increase in pricing has driven so many fans away – and not just individual fans – but generations of Blues. You can forget us oldies, but it’s our kids, and grandkids that we will hand the legacy of this Club over to, and many are simply ‘giving up’.

I have even been tempted to stop going to home games (after 40 years as a SC holder) as I only really enjoy going away these days. But as I said earlier, even there, tourists are depriving genuine loyal fans of a £30 away ticket.

I have loved (and am so grateful) to what Khaldoon has done for us – Sergio, 93:20, Four in a Row, Yaya, David Silva, Vinnie, Earling, Pep, etc., but the contract between us – the fans – which they appeared to honour in that first decade, and the ownership of our Club has now become broken.

The moment ‘CFG’ emerged as a serious multi-franchise business, things began to change – and none of them for the good.

My battle isn’t against Serrano, Danny Wilson or even the Shiek – it’s against CFG and the pernicious and mendacious destruction of football. It’s not about standing in the way of progress, changing times, digital trends, influencers, the need to monetize ‘content’, it’s about my fucking Club – that means more to me, my family, my kids, my friends, my memories and frankly, my mental health, than any fucking trophy or tunnel club.

Tonight might make no impact at all – but let’s go down fighting.

Mate I've not told anyone not to participate in the protest..I fully respect everyone who is but I don't think it will have much of an impact to be honest.
I hope it does have an impact but my gut feeling is that boycotting food and drink would have more of an impact.
As for hostility I've not been hostile to anyone but some of the ones who want to protest have called the non protesting fans boot lickers..akin to the Nottingham miner scabs ..not caring about other fans etc.
My feelings on match day ticket prices are the same as they always have been..I feel they are scandalous and way out of line with regards to our local fan base ( earnings and cost of living included).
I also said that as a season ticket holder I would be willing to have an increase in costs if it lowered the match day prices for fans especially for younger fans.
I hope the protest has the desired effect that you and others hope for but I still stand by my reasoning that boycotting food and drink will have more impact as the club are more interested in financial gain than anything else.
Does a boycott of food and drink effect the club or the concession?

Do you actually remember laughing at United for having one new kit per season? When was this? Between 1990/91 and 1991/92, they kept the same three kits for two seasons. Before that, City were introducing a new kit every season and we have continued to introduce at least one kit per season ever since.

I actually said in my post that I didn't like them wearing an away kit at home and didn't like watching Inter vs Genoa with Inter in yellow. Did you actually read my post or are you just ranting about the Noel Gallagher kit because you didn't like it on a thread about a protest about ticket prices and distribution?

I always wear retro mate but the club are pushing the kits to kids and people with a lot of spare income.

Just say no as Zammo used to say.
The people with spare income - to have enough money to buy six shirts per season, I'm guessing they have a job that requires a level of intelligence that they can use to make the decision whether to spend that spare income on football shirts or not.

On the club pushing kits to kids - it's not really for me to tell parents on here how to say "no" to them.

Yawn...

wouldn't effect the club today but a sustained boycott the rest of the season and the new contracts for concessions would look very different.

If the old contract was for eg £15M a season and no fucker is buying then the club wouldn't be in a position to ask that or an increase next season.

I was only young and impressionable but do remember my older City mates mocking United for releasing yearly shirts during a time we was every other. As I say, I was young but we have become what we hated in them.

The Oasis kit was mentioned in a list City fans are pissed off with and you highlighted it and basically said it has happened before and will happen again, like that is ok. I am glad to hear you wasn't happy with it because it was shit and shouldn't have happened in a million years with the added argument that a 4th kit is fucking ludacris to begin with. I maybe ranting because I am shocked that fellow blues are picking holes in our grievances against the club and in some cases (not aimed at you) are sticking up for the club. Bonkers
