Roll call for 9 minute protest

The next meeting with City Matters is this Thursday. We have heard nothing from the club and very little from CM since their first meeting last Thursday. Fair play to @Alex - City Matters though for publicly releasing his opening remarks from that meeting, reckon he's spot on with everything here:

But it is incredibly frustrating that we don't have a clue what to expect, what was discussed, or if we're getting any minutes. This isn't CM's fault of course, just another example of the lack of transparency that is a feature of our club's style of "fan engagement".

I saw this fairly detailed post from one of the foodbank lads about that, which was quite interesting:

As it stands, there is no fan action planned for Palace, I imagine because everyone is waiting to hear what happens at this Thursday's meeting. Obviously this only plays into the club's hands, so I hope we hear something (something positive!) on Thursday ASAP. If not, I bet the anger of supporters will only grow, especially as it will feel for all those thousands of people who took part vs Leicester that they're being ignored, yet again.

The amount of people that took part on Wednesday, was bigger than anyone thought it would be. And you can't just put that down to people who didn't have a clue what was going on, I saw loads of flyers on the concourse and the fact that people were chanting "stick your viagogo up your arse" and "we want our city back" (obviously referencing the community feel it used to have, not the shite performances!) makes me think that way more people were clued up on it than would have you believe.

I'd definitely be up for another one of these 9min concourse waits before the end of the season, to hammer home the point if City don't listen.. I bloody hope they do though.

Very good points. I agree that the Thursday meeting doesn't give us much turnaround time to Saturday lunchtime if the outcome of the meeting is a negative one, warranting further action. Perhaps a deliberate ploy by the club to leave it as late as possible before the Palace game? That said, the support for the protest at the Leicester game was very impressive and that was organised at quite short notice. Not as short as the 24 or so hours that we're likely to have if we need to plan something for Palace but I suppose now that the fans are aware of what's going on, it might not need too much notice to get something organised.

We know the media can be cunts about our club but they've been a hugely powerful tool for us in all this, and half the battle is getting the word out there and flooding the media. On that score, we got far more national media attention for our Leicester protest than United fans did for their protest on Sunday and that was reflected in the numbers present at each one.

It's none of my business really, but a CP protest should be pre-arranged, imho. It can always be cancelled on Friday. It's easier than keep things going than start the, stop them, start them again.

And I really think CM need to put their foot down on the release of information, at least on these issue and in respect of the issues discussed and conclusions. Nobody needs all the details ....

I agree mate, whilst we have the interest and momentum from the Leicester protest we should be pre-prepared for a Palace protest.

I agree unless supporters get together we're fucked. It's a totally bizarre approach by clubs and it's now obvious as every club seems to be doing it ( Barring Bradford) that it's a planned strategy.

I agree. It's clear the clubs are working in tandem and bouncing ideas off one another. About time supporters cast rivalries aside and do the same. The owners are counting on these rivalries dividing fanbases and not forming a unified front. Make no mistake they'd be really worried if this occurred as they're fully aware this would be a much stronger approach and prevent them from holding all of the aces every single time.

We're all free to discuss ideas here I'm sure, it's good that Blues are taking it seriously enough to think about ways these actions can be improved/made more effective. I think we're all still fighting the stereotype (I don't know if it just exists on this forum or in our heads) that City fans don't like to whinge about anything and just get on with it - which doesn't fit with what I've been told by older Berts about how active we were the 80s/90s! My father was delighted to take part in the East Stand, said he felt closer to City in that moment than he had in years, a feeling that was maybe linked to his involvement in Swales Out organising!

Well said about CM needing to put a foot down. I think the club makes these meetings as intimidating as possible, and we have to bear in mind that unlike most other Fan Advisory Boards in the country, City Matters is mostly made up of individual reps who don't represent a group, and may not be as experienced in representing supporters. Of course we have the great guys at the Disabled Supporters Association, Canal St Blues, and the OSC represented, who have many years of existence, but otherwise the majority of reps haven't got that weight behind them.

I saw one of the CM minutes this season showed there were TWENTY-THREE club staff in the meeting, to 10 City fan reps! Other clubs don't have anywhere near this many staff in Fan Advisory Board meetings. Not one club outnumbers their fan reps, apart from us. Feels like an intimidation tactic, so I have massive respect for the CM reps who've stuck up for fans this season in an environment like that.

On minutes, the club says it has 10 days to release minutes, but they regularly break their own rule here and I'm sure they've taken weeks (if not months) to release these before. As a previous poster indicated, it isn't hard to believe that they do this to try and wind the clock down and hope supporters forget about issues. I heard a Spurs supporter speaking on Twitter last week that they got the club to agree to a 48hr deadline years ago and let their FAB publish them themselves. Our FAB are so far away from that. As mentioned in a previous post, Alex Howell wrote a governance paper on this exact issue last year and the club have kicked it into touch. I can't see anything changing as the club don't want it to.

They need to stop mocking other fans and realise they're cutting their own throats by being passive and thinking it won't happen to them. A premier wide united ten minutes not taking your seats at the start of a designated weekend might wake the fuckers at boardroom level up. No fans the game is dead. People tolerated it during the lockdown as there was fuck all else to do and it was short term. The common theme should be we want our football back.

Imagine a game where both the home and away fans agreed to something like the 9 minute protest well in advance. Game kicking off with a fully empty stadium.

As has been mentioned on here by a few others. All supporters relisting their tickets for a guaranteed refund of the same fixture would be a great idea too. Make the club suffer from their own greed. See how the club gets on with shifting an additional 35k seats when they can't even do 10-15k currently at these prices. Be difficult to do this season as we are bidding farewell to the living legend that is KDB.

If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next

Well done to all blues who are not ready to give up. They can stick disney city up their arse, we want the Kippax back

But we have to price blues out and get tourists in if we want to win things, OK the downside is that the more we win the real blues get thinner and thinner on the ground and the next generation don't get anywhere near the stadium.

Apart from that we can sing and cheer the blues on, obviously the songs we sing will be vetted and you can read the redacted song sheet while you munch on your quinoa and Jamie Oliver pulled pork baguette :)

Something has to be done as they're starting to take the piss, not just us but most clubs. The majority of fans aren't bothered about craft beers, fancy food, padded seats etcetera. Standing or a bench like the platt lane would suffice, a cup.of Bovril and a pie. We're going to watch a match for ninety minutes the rest is just overpriced unnecessary bullshit.

I'd rather not think of Jamie Oliver pulling his pork, thank you : (

making some noise and populated !!!

sky arselicking to one of their main customers as usual.

about 1/30th of the stretford end.
Yeah, the proper arse licking for a, let's be honest, shit and embarrassing sit in on the Stretford End, whilst the rest of the ground is empty.

I almost feel guilty, as a season ticket holder who is slightly insulated from matchday pricing, that we have let it get to this stage. When the median wage for someone in Greater Manchester works out at just over £100 after taxes, this is madness.

How did it come to this?

Might have been worth it in our pomp those prices for what we are currently serving up is another level of insult
