Romelu Lukaku on his way to City ?

Wouldn't make sense to let guidetti go and then pay 20 million for a player who seems far less technical.

You cannot be serious.

I know Guidetti chose to leave but if we are willing to go to great lengths to sign lukaku then i feel we should've done the same for Guidetti. 20 million is too much for this lad, the Belgian league is probably on a par with the SPL. Look at Jovanovic. He's absolute shite and looked like a world-beater over there.

comparing guidetti to lukaku is like comparing dean windass to lionel messi...possibly over the top however lukaku is miles better than guidetti mate, all top clubs after lukaku and thats for a reason, hes a top player already and has the potential to go right to the top, on the other hand guidetti looked decent but nowhere near the potential to go right to the top.

Point taken, from what i've seen he does look fast and powerful. Im just extremely wary of "wonderkids". So many have flopped; Freddy Adu is a prime example. The jump from the Belgian league to Premier League is huge and its not a given that he'll be world class. 20 million is also way over the top. Paying that for Balo is one thing who impressed in Serie A but its entirely different paying it for this lad. Especially when you consider he did end the season poorly, am i right in saying he went 2 months without a goal?

I don't want any fucking Romulans here, regardless of whether they're soccer prodigies. A cunning and opportunistic race, make no mistake.

That's actually pretty funny :D

-- Wed Jun 01, 2011 1:45 pm --

It's always a risk, but Tevez wasn't too far off going nearly the entire back end of the season without a goal from open play (injury aside of course), but no-one doubts his talent or ability as a striker. Even Villa went through a barren spell at Barca, but he's not a bad striker. Funnily enough both of those two recently scored sensational goals (Tevez v Stoke, Villa v Rags). Having Kompany as his team mate could be crucial to his development too. And don't forget big Paddy!

flawed argument again, adu was totally different he had always played in the us before moving to benfica and only playin 11 times, on the other hand lukaku has played way over 50 games and scored about 20/30 goals...in fact hes scored 31 in 71 for anderlecht, that seems rather average because its in a poorer league than the prem BUT for a 17/18 year old to hold a record like that over there is class!...ive watched him enough times to know that this guy will make it at one of the worlds bests club.

I do agree that he is a talent, no one could doubt that. Im just very cautious about jumping to conclusions with players who are so young. Il give him the benefit of the doubt going on some of your reviews. I'd just liked to have seen Guidetti given a shot as he always impressed me when i watched the eds.

Probably Chelski, hope it's us. Doesn't seem like a typical Chelsea signing though, they tend to reserve the big money for established stars at their peak and £18m is a fair bit of cash.

Top 2/3 club discounts the scum along with stadium capacity, Arsenal could be included in there (historically - bwahaha) but have a 60k capacity stadium. 50k is closer to our stadium capacity then Chelski's.

Looking good for us but we'll have to see I guess.

Sometimes you need to take a gamble, fergiescum banged £27m on Shrek when he was only 18 and the likes of Tranny, Anderson and a few others were in the £15-£20m range. If he turns out as good as shrek then £18m is a bargain, like him or loathe him, he is one of their best players and would fetch £40m+ if sold.

too much of an unknown quantity to punt 20m on, he will want a huge wage too as he seems to buy into his own hype. I would rather have chelsea pay all that money for a player who might turn out to be the next emile heskey rather than the next drogba
