There is no league as competitive as the PL, that is indisputable. That doesn’t stop me from having a brain and being able to think. I can look at a player, see how they behave in a game, around his teammates, around different oppositions, and weighing how they would fit elsewhere. I do this all the time watching players here in the Brazilian and Argentinian leagues and South American cups. Or else we could just never sign anyone who’s never played in the PL before. You go to the Messi thread and people ask, Would he adapt to the PL?!?! The best player in the world!! They do this even now with Sergio Ramos, one of the best CBs in the world this century. I can’t tell if it’s insanity or arrogance. Lukaku was being managed by Conte at Inter, a manager who has won the PL, in a team that wasn’t by any means considered the frontrunner for the title when that league started. And for all the talk about how “weak” Serie A is, the almighty Juventus almost didn’t qualify for the Champions League.. they got to the final game of the season depending on a result from another team to make it. Lots of tactically very good managers work there.
