Romeo Lavia

He looked very decent, but I wasn't like wow! However, like Paqueta could he flourish more in a team with better players, than at a team wading through the treacle of a relegation dog fight?
50m is quite the fee tho for someone who COULD be better, he looked a tidy player but nowhere near the world beater that he is being touted as

I suppose the only way to test the hypothesis is to cough up the £50m Southampton want & see.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was touted as the new Wayne Rooney when he burst on the scene. It's sobering to see him as a free agent at 30 looking for a team in Turkey.

You can never tell how a career will pan out. Personally I'd say Lavia needs a couple of seasons in the PL to properly assess his true potential.

No one will know the kid better than City, & it's telling we're not exercising our buy back option, when we're in desperate need to rest & rotate Rodri. \0/

I believe the sell on fee would reduce our nett payment to 40m

Is it more like Kovacic than Rodri that Lavia is?

And if so then Kovacic was cheaper and more proven.

We were like shit off a hot shovel where Kova was concerned, & we could've made our interest in Lavia known at any time last season, but didn't.

Lavia's a good young player, but £50m makes me gulp! \0/

The coaching staff and Pep had a good long look at Lavia when he was here and made the call to let him go. They are not infallible but looks like they have seen nothing yet to change there minds. He has looked decent enough when I have watched him but think the juxtaposition of his season and Philips is distorting perceptions. Phillips might not be the cover we need for Rodri but it does'n't mean Lavia is.

It might also that we know Lavia 's thinking on coming back and the reasons he wanted to leave are the reason he might not want to come back.
