As somebody who doesn't watch our young players it seems that there are a number of players who OP's rate and believe that they should get time with or around the first team squad.
This obviously gives the coaches a chance to assess their abilities and suitabilities for playing time , but actual game time appears to be incredibly limited, due to the quality of the squad.
Apart from loans and or sales with buy back options , how else do the players get the chance to show their quality ? Pep appears reluctant to throw kids in games which are already won .
Tricky balance but I guess and have to trust the professionals to get it right .
Exactly, but it takes 3 years to count as club trained mind. Don't spread fake news ;)He will, as he joined on 1 July 2020.
Agree, I am disappointed too. The academy may bring money in but we appear to spend an even bigger amount to bring players in. I was always impressed by Lavia when I saw him play, really thought he would have a future with us.Very disappointed about this, the lad is an obvious star in the making and could have been used from the bench in winning situations to see if he was ready for the step up, I am sure it would be easier for these talented youngsters to do so than step into a shit team on loan, you play better with better players around you.
The downside is others will follow out of the door, I dare say Delap will already be thinking maybe it is time to move on and secure a first team place at another PL club, maybe injuries at the wrong time have hindered his progression.
As rich as the club are, it would still be nice if we produced and then introduced a few more homegrown into the squad.
Will somebody be given the chance to replace Mahrez who is coming up to 32yo or will it just be easier to go and buy somebody else's ex-youth player that has been afforded game time?
Of course, the upside is the money that they are bringing in is a good steady income.
You're right, my bad. Confused it with the B-List eligibility, which is 2 years.Exactly, but it takes 3 years to count as club trained mind. Don't spread fake news ;)
After 1 year at Soton he would count as academy trained though, but he would have to add another season for us til season 2024/25 is over to be
'club trained home grown' for us.
