Romeo Lavia

It's frustrating because we could have him in the squad now as a willing and much more able deputy than Phillips. And this is why debate about our transfer dealings is merited; the club are good in the market but not infallible. I fear we're lumbered with Kalvin.
He doesn't want to be a squad player and he wasn't / isn't displacing Rodri. These other teams want him as a starter. He wouldn't start for us. Thats why he wouldn't stay or come back.

Fingers crossed he sees sense - that’s £40m wasted right there for our transfer budget. He’s got plenty of options where he can go and be happy - for gods sake GO!

I was taliking about Lavia, but it goes for any Rodri back up player. I 'm quite happy for Phillips to give it another year if Peps happy. Hardly 40 mill wasted, even if he's sold next summer think we'd get 30 mill back.

Not one directly stopping it but we can certainly add first refusals giving us the option of bringing them back or if not that then bigger sell on clauses if they sell during a certain timeframe or even if they sell to a league rival etc. Plenty of things we can add to give ourselves a better deal should one of them end up on the verge of signing for a direct rival.

Southampton are potentially making near £30 million profit in 12 months. we sold him cheaply so that we could include buy back clauses that now look as though we are never going to even get the option of utilising and will see him end up at our biggest rival over the last 5 years. Mistakes have been made for that to happen, that will not have been the intention, which is fine, it can happen, we just have to learn and ensure we don't make it again anytime soon.
we have a match bid on this if we want him, we dont.

Going to still sting this one isn’t it, despite knowing the reality.

Couldn't be arsed, i imagine the club already promise him back then so he can have place in first team slowly ala Foden.

But he doesn't want to wait and wanting first team regular football immediately so our club with no choice is selling him.

Lavia have no attachment for our club unlike Foden, Palmer, Lewis, McAtee etc, they are trained for our club since very young while Lavia is bought academy player from Anderlecht. Lavia only saw our club as stepping stone to further his career as football and nothing more than that.

Lavia might be good enough for us in 2-3 years but certainly not at this moment in time
If there was a mistake it was in signing Phillips who has clearly wilted under the pressure
Amazed we aren’t even vaguely linked to Caicedo who is basically a reincarnation of Ferna

Why would Caicedo want to come to City and sit on the bench most of the time?

The whole point of Phillips (or Lavia) is to give Rodri a breather, but Phillips who Pep desperately wanted isn’t good enough or professional enough to do it.

The club hasn’t got many wrong recently, but in getting rid of Lavia to accommodate Phillips they had a stinker

I'm only assuming he left because he had what appeared a better offer at the time.
The same as Bezunu, Edozie and Larios.
He's getting regular game time which we couldn't guarantee to him or most players.
