Romeo Lavia

Saints seem be holding out for 50 all in. Think he'll move though, Liverpool will pay up.

Even at 50m, Saints only get 40m, because they pay us 20%. So we could offer 41m and it would exceed Liverpool's offer. Which is 1m more than the clause next year.

But it would depend on the player wanting to come back, and the club wanting him back. Neither of which I think is there myself. Which is why I think he will end up at Liverpool.

Think we signed Ake on similar terms, Chelsea having a clause iirc?

It does make you wonder under what scenario we would trigger the clause/use the sell on fee as a method to resign a player. 19 years of age, showed great promise that the likes of Chelsea/Liverpool wish to sign him.

I'll be disappointed if he ends up at Liverpool tbh :(
Its a good move for him, whatever we think of them its a big step forward in his career. whether he is quite ready for it time will tell.

Losing Henderson & Fabinho is massive for them. The defense will be more exposed and they are in transition upfront too. He could be the scapegoat if early results dont go well

Of course, it is a good move for him, I didn't want him sold and Phillips bought which is why I'll be disappointed and we potentially improve a rival of sorts.

Its a tuff one. We cant keep all of them. I guess we loaned the likes of Mcatee/Doyle as we rated them higher and/or didnt get an offer we’d entertain. While Lavia we sold as we rated him less highly and/or got an offer we couldnt refuse

Im not really sure he’s our level. Not that i think Philips is either….

I don't think he is our level yet either but he was ours and potentially would have been our level in the future.

He may as well have stayed and played the many minutes that Phillips failed to take up and then we would be able to discuss if he did indeed have a future at this club.

Now we will never know.

Lavia wanted first team football,he thought he deserved a chance, and its difficult to disagree with that thinking.

When Pep failed to even offer him a glimpse, and there were plenty of dead rubber opportunities,he took Saints very attractive proposal.

He was exactly the youngster we were missing in the first team,a Rodri apprentice, where as we had similar to what Doyle and McAtee offered - loans seemed more suitable in there situation.

Anyway.....it happened,he wont be back,we just have to hope Saints get good money.

Time will tell. Plenty on here gave pelters to Txixi/Pep over Sancho, and look how that turned out.

They wont get every call right, but they dont get too much wrong when it comes to buying/selling players.

Which kind of shows how high we rated him (Eg, we didnt).

We dont get a lot wrong, and have other options. Time will tell if its a right royal fuck up

Chelsea fucked Kevin de bruyne off and Mo Salah yes you never know.

He was 17, I think, when he left us, and has played quite well for a team who have been relegated. There is no guarantee he will ever reach the level of Rodri, which is what he would need to be a regular for us. I wish him nothing but the best and hope that he becomes the player we believe he had the potential to become.

Did they go back to Chelsea?

They didn't go back to CFC and Lavia won't be back at City, hence the
'We will never know' if he would have been a success at City.
