Romeo Lavia

Kid could have been our own Camavinga, I hope we haven't lost a gem here. Anyway I believe in about 5 years we would be looking to bring him back. Rodri and Kal are both 26, in 5 years they should be in their 30's, still playing regularly but not on every match day, Lavia should get a lot of game time by then...assuming we bring him back.
As I said previously, and while it's a way off....I suspect a rival will have poached him by then.Either we bring him back in 12 months if the trajectory continues....or we miss out is my thinking.

Can't bring him back in 12 months, he would be wasted on the bench, maybe if Gundo leaves then he could come in but seeing as Rodri and Kal are in their mid to late 20's, I doubt if the kid would be willing to wait 3 years to break into the starting 11.

That's the thing with buyback clauses though. If he keeps this level up, it will have turned to dust in a year or two unless the club decide to pull the trigger.

Exactly my point and what I have said in my last couple of posts.

He has gone for good.

In 2020 people would have said our wing positions were sorted for a decade with Sané, Mahrez and Sterling.

Now 2 are gone and the other turns 32 this season.

You can't predict how squads are going to go. Phillips might have a catastrophic injury, Rodri might get his head turned by Real Madrid.

We both know none of these things would happen. If Real were interested in making a a bid for Rodri they would have done it this time. Next year he would be 27 and Real has since abandoned the transfer policy of signing older players, I think the last time they did that was when Mourinho was there.

Sorry, I didn't realise I was talking to Nostradamus.

I mean this is just embarrasing nonsense. 27? An older player? Not since Mourinho?

Rudiger 29? Alaba 29? Hazard 30?

I’m not sure if it’s an actual policy, but Hazard is the only outfield player over the age over 25 that they’ve spent money on in the past 10 years. And he was 28, not 30.
