Romeo Lavia

So if reports are to be believed that’s now Lavia, Palmer and Delap who will be promoted to to the first team squad next season. I can’t say I’m that confident of any of them getting many chances though.

Palmer and Delap (assuming we sign Kane or another 9) I agree with.

I think Lavia has a real shot if he impresses. We're not going to be signing another DM in light of Fernandinho's extension, so he's got a year to bed in and get some cup appearances.

From what I've seen of him he looks really special. Obviously a big jump for him, but DM is a position that's there for the taking with Dinho nearing the end of his reign and there still being some question marks over whether Rodri is the answer.

As i said in the OP :-)
I think when we signed him we knew he was a really good prospect. But I think he has surprised everyone at the club with just how outstanding he is. His composure under pressure is ridiculous for a lad of 17.
We’ll need to be patient with him as he develops physically but he certainly has the talent to potentially save us a fortune.
Learning some of the cuter tricks of the trade and ‘dark arts’ in that position from Ferna for the next 12 months will be a huge bonus

Lavia being mentored by Fern, Palmer being mentored by Mahrez and Delap being mentored by Kane. It's all one big cunning plan with not a turnip in sight.

Wonderful news. Arguably our biggest talent in the youth system. Could save us £80M on a Fernandinho replacement.

Could be as good as Foden IMO (albeit completely different types of player).

Brilliant news but history shows he won’t get a look in!
Lol, didn't take too long did it ;)

This lad is a serious talent, maybe not Foden level talent, but he doesn't play a position that catches the eye. I really believe he could be the next academy regular. Barring injury he will save us a fortune.

Young players will almost certainly be given game time next season. First-team players are already exhausted and face a curtailed summer because of the Euros, and next summer will presumably see be shortened, too, so that the domestic season fits the 2022 World Cup. Sheer folly if they are not bled this season coming.

Very good point I’d won’t every player to have at least a month away from football to recharge there batteries!

Good idea. I’ve stressed elsewhere that the club should resist any temptation to go on a summer tour next year. There will naturally be a desire to recoup lost revenue as quickly as possible, but the welfare of the players and management must come first, or we’ll otherwise face burn out and the damage that entails. Four young players used wisely should help during the season, but then there needs to be a complete break at the season’s end.

Will believe it when it happens. It's easy to be led down this path when in reality, unless there's an injury crisis I cannot see us starting this lad other than maybe in a few Carabao fixtures. Hope I'm proven wrong, would love for us to get a Ferna replacement from within academy

Though I understand the comments about Academy players not getting a look in, it is 10 years now since the investment came in so players that have been at the club since junior school are now 17-18. I said it in another thread that I would rather us play one Academy player per game than spend another 200m: there's just something special about one of your own being brought through and I happen to think that Palmer, Lavia, McAtee, Delap, and Doyle are worthy of a chance. I would love us to have one Academy starter and one sub in every game. I'm doubtful but we have a big crop of quality coming through.

He's 17 years old, a few Carabao fixtures sounds pretty good to me?

Last season we had chance after restart to give some youngsters chance in PL as title was gone but didn't happen

True to an extent. However, young Garcia then found himself flavour of the month, and Pep also had to get players who had been off for some time up to speed, especially with an eye to the return leg against Real Madrid.
