Ronaldo Koeman?

People on here know full well that I have my suspicions of those 2 Spaniards that have been brought in to save our ship that was never bloody sinking.

God knows, whatever Mancini and all his staff make of them regardless of what they say on camera!

Whatever happened to a manager managing the football and a chairman choosing the man he would like to manage. In Mancini we have our most popular and successful manager in nearly 2 generations and yet some on here seem compelled to undermine him.

Then we have Txiki, our Director of Football, who from my memory has never been so much as spotted a a Carrington Training Session apparently deciding what players come and go and which of his cronies are next for Mancini's job!

You just couldn't make it up!

One chairman Khaldoon, One manager Mancini, the rest of them can bugger off.

He knows nothing? Well, lets hope it stays that way! Sooner have the other 'know nothing' - Manuel from Fawlty Towers.

-- Tue Mar 12, 2013 12:03 pm --

tbf .. most of us said "WTF ROBERTO MANCINI?" few years ago.

Most? Did we?

We didn't. The only WTF moments I had with City managers were when Horton and Hughes came along!

It was more impressive than Mancini's CV before he came here IMO.
Really?? 1 League, 2 Domestic cups and 3 Charity Shield equivalents?

You could also say that most of Mancini's success came when Inter's main rivals were either docked points, relegated and sold their best players. IIRC Inter's main rivals were Roma and I'm sure Inter was given a title due to the scandal.

I am not in anyway trying to say that Koeman is a better manager than Mancini. I'm just pointing out that what a manager has previously won is not the most important aspect of what he will bring to the team. Lets face it if it was then Mancini would never have got the job in the first place.

What an absolute load of ill conceived bollocks that post is!

You think Mancini's consistent record of success in one of Europe's top leagues wasn't a vital factor in him getting the City job?

And you think Mancini's record was not that impressive in Italy?

Even given the match-fixing scandal which weakened the pool of opposition during Inter's first title winning season, he then went on to win 2 further titles on the bounce, aswell as 2 Coppa Italia (on the bounce), and 2 Italian Super Cups (on the bounce).

This after having guided unfashionable Fiorentina to the 2000-01 Coppa Italia, and Lazio to the same trophy in 2003-04.

Even given the relegations and points deductions of some of his rivals in two of the seasons during his 8 years of management in Italy, his field of competition was still FAR stronger than anything Koeman has encountered in the Dutch league.

Their is no comparison between the level of success achieved by Mancini & Koeman, and to suggest there is betrays your lack of understanding of the strength of the respective leagues.

I'd even go as far as to suggest that you're on the wind up if these are truly your opinions on the matter. If, however, you are serious, then as someone has said above, you're an idiot & your opinion doesn't count!!!

Bit touchy aren't you!!

It's funny how posters like you dismiss all other managers credentials to suit your pro-Mancini agenda.

Have I said that Koeman is a better manager than Mancini? No I haven't all I have said that winning trophies in 3 different countries is impressive especially in Spain where its practically impossible to compete with Barca and Real.

Mancini managed Inter at the perfect time and he has also managed us at a time when he has enjoyed a massive financial backing and IMO has done a good job and deserves to stay on.

Managers with a better track record than Bobby have been massively criticised on this forum so don't get all touchy when someone disagrees with your opinion of Mancini.

Something's not sitting right with me on all this to be honest?

I agree wholeheartedly ... been saying for a week or two now that if City have any intention of keeping Mancini they should put all this shit to bed.

It keeps being roundly ignored but the huge warning sign is the comments by Kolo and Clichy over the last few weeks about not knowing whether Mancini is going to be sacked or not. That's not good unless the intention is to literally scrap half the playing squad, the whole coaching staff, and start again from scratch to some extent.

They did say when they first arrived there was going to be a cull of some description, and that their first impressions were both backroom and playing staffing levels were too high for what was required.

I think the problem is the unrelenting speculation, and the fact that it seems no-one at City seems to mind it. As Tolmie said, even Kloss can say nothing because she just doesn't know...
