How would we acomadate him now?

Mancini tends to play Ade upfront by himself with Tevez droping deep, well he did at the end of the season anyway, although that system could revert into a 4-4-2

AJ ---- de Jong ---- Barry ---- Bellamy

------------ Tevez

----------------- Adebayor

Don't see where Robinho fits in at the moment, maybe for Bellamy? would be very harsh mind

Would like to have Robinho back as an option though.

4-3-3.

------------------Hart--------------------

Alves-----Kompany-----Lescott----Kolarov

-----------Toure--------Barry------------

------------------Silva-------------------

Tevez-----------Ibrahimovic-------Robinho
That's far too much change to the current squad, if we keep making huge changes to the squad every summer they will never settle and we will be in a constant period of transition, secondly Mancini has never used a 4 3 3 whilst at City, although I would hope he does next season.

Could be an option, and would be great against the lesser teams like Wigan and Fulham but when we come up against the more physical sides we would strugle with out Ade's height.

What would you think if he suddenly changed his tack and said he might want to come back to City?

Would you think he was being genuine, positive and had seriously thought about the potential for both him and us or that he'd had no interest from his agent's hawking and was desperately trying to save his City skin because there were no other takers?

Would you want him back?

ROBINHO has made a dramatic U-turn and could decide to return to Manchester City after the World Cup.
The Brazilian star, due back from loan club Santos in August, went public back home with reservations about making a return to England.
But now Robinho has had a major re-think and is full of praise for the job City did last season in finishing fifth and claiming a Europa League spot – and tipping Roberto Mancini to claim a Champions League spot next season.
Robinho said: “I honestly don’t know what will happen at City. We will just see what happens over the summer but I haven’t ruled out a return.
“First things first. The only thing on my mind now is helping the Brazilian team to win the World Cup.
“But I thought Manchester City were a good choice for me. I understood the reactions when I joined them. People thought I was going for the money but if it was then I would have gone to Dubai or an Arabic country. But I wanted to play in the Premier League and I was happy to join a club with big ambitions.
“They have the money and ambition to make it into the top four in England. And believe me, next season City will.
Maybe I’ll be there to help them.
“When I moved to City a lot of Brazilians did not really know much about the club and they thought it was a step down.
“But I’m now thinking that people think it was the right decision for me.”
Robinho also left the door open for his old club Real Madrid, adding: “I was not satisfied with the way they treated me in the end. I was very disappointed in how they talked about me like I was some kind of merchandise or currency.
“It would take some convincing to get me to return but I don’t have any problems with the people running Real Madrid now.”
Meanwhile, City are lining up a £15million raid for Roma’s giant defender Philippe Mexes.
Mancini needs reinforcements after playing midfielder Vincent Kompany at the back towards the end of the season.
He has alread
No way, he would just upset the place again, he came to the biggest Lge in the World and couldn't hack it.
Close the Door on your way out.

Re: Robinho returning theories

its nothing to do with anyone we are about to sign. robinho will have realised that city have set a price that he is not worth, such as 25mil & nobody will pay it.

and secondly, even if somebody does pay it they wont pay him 160k a week and since he wont get that elsewhere he might have to stay at city and pick up his cash.

his comments were nothing to do with wanting to stay but more realising he may have to because noone would even pay him half the wages we do.

I don't really care what he says.

As long as Robinho is a City player, I'll be screaming my head off for him. He is just phenomenally talented, and with a bit of luck could become an absolute great.

It's funny how all of these people are posting on here like they know him, have had lots of contact with him and fully understand his 'attitude'.

You know, it MAY just be possible that Robinho was told that he should go back to Santos to reconnect with his former passion in a stroke of excellent man management, and he'll come back raring to prove his doubters wrong and score 30 goals next season.

It's about as likely as any other scenario yet as he is Brazilian and is a flair player, just like Elano, the fans have already made up their minds about him.

"Oh NO, HE DOESN'T TRACK BACK!!!!"

Guess what, neither did our mutual hero Kinkladze, or the greatest player who has ever lived, Maradona. Ronaldo isn't exactly reliable defensively either. If you want constant hard working grafters who always get stuck in, then it means that we have to play a certain type of football, which gets complained over. We cannot have it both ways, there are not 11 Tevezs out there. If you want nice, free flowing skilful football, you must play nice, skilful players and these tend to be the type of players who get complained about.

When somebody eventually puts Robinho in his natural position behind the strikers, and uses a few DMs/Tevezs to protect him, we'll see the reason why Pele calls him his successor.

Until then though, he's just a 'lazy Brazilian', just Veron was a 'lazy Argentinian' until Tevez broke that mould.

Can't agree with this. You need players who are skillfull and work hard to be successful. That's why every Manager says, when playing weaker opposition, that we have to match them for effort first or the skill factor won't come into it.

The best example are the best team in the World: Barcelona.

Robinho= exceptional skill with lazy attitude= not good enough.

Well I've heard it all now.....the poor downtrodden, misunderstood little soldier...how dare that nasty Mancini stop the poor lamb getting the chance to play in the World Cup,and how dare he play a bloke in front of him who actually wants to wear the shirt and gives a shit about the club, aswell as being a damn good player to boot....??

Robinho only cares about Robinho...my point is with his skill he could quite easily have made Mancini take note..he just couldn't be arsed to apply himself, too much trouble-so he legged it.This is the thing with him-it's always someone else's fault...

Robinho had done nothing in the months previous to him leaving to prove he wanted to play for us-the constant sniping and touting himself in the press, the disinterested body language...he was becoming a liability-of his own making.

Do you really think that a fit and firing, motivated Robinho would've been dropped in favour of Bellamy?Never!
But the facts are that a "journeyman with dodgy knees" could quite easily keep him out of the team-a decision that both Hughes and Mancini both took, and one I agree with 100%.

Robinho has to look at himself-all the skill but a heart the size of a pea.Can he change?I doubt it.
Comes across as someone who will go through his career being "nearly the best" simply because he can't be arsed to apply himself and knuckle down when it really matters.
And it will be someone elses fault,be it Hughes,Mancini,Madrid, whoever ....always.

I think you'll find that Robinho did nothing in the months prior to him leaving because he had a broken ankle. An injury that he was trying to recover from when people like you were giving him grief and screaming for Craig Fucking Bellamy, who loves this club so much he couldn't wait to celebrate with his pal Harry Redknapp when Spurs beat us to Fourth.

Firstly,I've never given City players grief at the match mate.Never have, never will
I certainly wouldn't if Robinho returns.I'd be sceptical,but I'd give him a chance.
Ultimately though,I believe him to be a selfish, disrespectful little twat who's had way more chances than he deserves.

Robinho left City for Santos in January, and was playing for City before that...so far as I know, the season always ends in May-that's a long time to make your mind up.....the fact still remains that he was fit enough to play for City, but instaed of doing the hard yards and knuckling down, chose to leave when we were entering a critical stage of the season.

He should have been smashing the door down to play.He wasn't.When he did his contribution was less than spectacular.
He was totally concerned with getting himself out of the club to get himself playing with his mates in Brazil.Again, what's best for Robinho-not the team that pay his wages.

I don't know how many times the guy has to disrespect the club publicly or tout himself around again before you wake up and realise however good he is,once the initial "buzz" oif his new team has worn off he's looking for the next ego massage.

Not worth the hassle. There are players out there who will play for the team, have the right attitude and not slag off the club everytime something doesn't go their way.

Re: If Robinho returned would you give him the support he needs?

I would support Robinho 100%

The simple fact of the matter is that Mark Hughes took a £32m Brazilian international and turned him into a no mark...

This lad has flair and talent and needs talented players around him - all you guys who say " but he doesn't track back" want taking outside and shooting - how the hell can you sign a Brazilian international striker and then have a pop at him for his defensive short comings??????

Give the guy room to play and he will come up with some magic... Anyone who doesn't want a talented Brazilian in our team is insane...

I beg to differ. Lets leave it at that.
