Rony Lopes

Not really disappointed, wish him well. Simply plays a position we have no need for in near future. I expect Silva to play at least 2 other seasons on highest level and then we still (not yet) got that ginger guy. Shit happens.

Sad to see him go but we did well to get a good price for him(as he only had 12months left on his contract)......Think he made it clear he wasnt going to extent his contract, so getting a good price for him now made sense....

Brilliant player, I will enjoy watching him in first team action and I back him to shine. This could potentially end up like the Chelsea and De Bruyne situation.

There was room for Denayer and Lopes but then we got Otamendi and possibly De Bruyne who were arguably the standout players in their position across Europe last year.

So all in all not too bothered. I enjoy watching the EDS and we have some very talented players but I wouldn't be shocked if they never make it to a top 6 in the world level - which is where we are now. The improvement in our team far outpaces how much we can improve our youth products.

I'm glad we don't do things like sell top class players like Nasri just to test out a kid for a season. Can see buyback clauses being more important to us than loans or promotions.

Very dissapointing and a bit of a sad indictment about how we've been ignoring our young players. We're very lucky we managed to trick Denayer into signing a new deal with false promises, but after that we had very little hope of getting Lopes to sign one. Can't blame him for leaving, other will do the same if we don't start at least giving them a chance to prove their worth. Decent fee, although could easily be made to look pretty poor if he kicks on, hopefully we've managed to put some kind of buyback clause in ther but I doubt Monaco would agree to that. Monaco are a club who are banking on buying up the best young players and giving them the chances that their currentc lubs don't.

If we lose our honesty and integrity when dealing with young players we will be fooked in future, you only have one chance to show that.

I think Lopes is a good player but has not been consistent at Lille although I think playing alongside Silva etc would only make you better.Cant be easy playing with some of those at Lille but a good player should shine.

Good cup runs are is essential this season in all competitions, even if we end up in Europa I would want us to go for that to keep all the players as happy as possible.
We will get injuries so everyone just needs to be patient but Lopes and Denayer wont get game time.

Im not convinced Denayer is the real deal either,I think if he gets loaned out to a PL club he would get found out and that's why City loan him to the continent.Just my opinion.

Kelechi however is for me a great prospect,we must get him on in games,he needs to come on as a sub at some point if we are winning a game by a couple or three just to show what he can do.

i agree with you...i find it hard to believe that people cant see that unless a player is going to play in a staring role on the team it will be hard for them to break in...we are a top 5 team in the world...to stay that way alot of young kids dont make, that is a fact of life...if 1 out of 20 players make the team and become a world class player at their position you should be happy...most players never make it

these types of players need 1st team football for them to develop not reserves
unfortunately the teams at the top can't risk allowing players to make mistakes in the 1st team as they develop
there is too much at stake, they have to be high class already i.e. sterling.

Can someone tell me how that effects the HG quota. Do we have enough in the squad if he leaves?

They can afford to give chances to young players without it being a huge risk.

Many top sides do, but it is starting to look like City will be another Chelsea, & just basically not bother.

It's not actually a bad deal considering he would be leaving for free, but it's the fact he doesn't trust Pellegrini/City that is the bigger worry for me, than losing one player.

I've been an ardent follower of kids/reserve teams since I first started watching City but I'm strongly considering not bothering anymore, because I don't trust City on this either.
