Proven?

You make no sense! All clubs use youth at some point City - Joe Hart - Chelsea - John Terry

My point is that it's common knowledge it's not done often enough.

You proved this yourself by using Jesse as an example 36 games in 4 years! Thanks.

Nope, that wasn't your point at all, you are moving the goalposts. I would agre with 'it isn't done often enough' & thus we wouldn't be having this conversation.

You tried to suggest that only inferior clubs used kids & now probably wish you had thought about it before posting.

You tried to find a single club to back up your argument & chose Real Madrid. Verane. 18 years old, was playing for Real Madrid.

Proven. Even Real Madrid, the only club you could find outside the newly rich clubs, to give as an example, have actually brought through young players.

Most top clubs in Europe do, City Chelsea & PSG, since having money, have an awful record so far.

Youth if there good enough will make it- We have just spent big on Sterling and he's only 20

Do you put youth before success?

Those two are not contrasting ideas and it is fairly proven that lasting success is helped by youth more often than not.

And what message does it send to academy players ?

I'm not changing no posts Varane was bought for £10 million from Lens he never came through any acadamy!

Neither did Denayer or Lopes. But they & Verane & Walcott, Oxlade etc at Arsenal, Sterling at Liverpool, are all kids who went to clubs hoping to be brought through into the first team.

All those players mentioned were given a much bigger chance to prove themselves around the first team at a young age, than anyone has so far got at City.

It is that, which is the common factor throughout most of the football world. A few clubs are currently way behind the rest in that particular area, & we are one, in spite of having some of the best talent in the world at that age group.

Sad to see Lopes go as he had been in the academy for a while and I originally thought he would of been a candidate to make a breakthrough into the first team. Although it is a short term loss it will work out for the best in the long run.

No it isn't. It is him who is out of step with most other clubs not my post which is wrong.

That is how it is done & still is to this day. It is happening right now in the Premier League & across Europe. City & Chelsea are two of the only clubs who hardly ever do it. Pretty much everyone else does.

You used the word 'Hardly' and in my opinion Real Madrid and the examples given by you prove that Real Madrid Hardly do it.

So I have proven you wrong

Examples given by you
Jesse 36 games aged 22
Varane who was bought for £10,000,000 has played 66 times in 4 years and not brought through an acadamy.

So is it still just City & Chelsea?

No it's probably PSG as well.

Here ya go @BlueDeadHead, expand your mind instead of being a sad, little troll.

"This was [most of] the post I made with regards to the academy when people were foaming at the mouth at Otamendi signing;

In this instance I personally feel Lopes has shown more than enough to merit a chance and again believe that he's not only capable of getting a match here and there but also taking that chance with both hands. Which is why I find it disappointing, I don't find that an unrealistic expectation.

Yes he's gotten a great move but Lopes is/was one of our prospects primed for the first team imo and it's sad to see how it's played out."

Oh I see. So when I pointed out how a previous post was intentionally misleading you have now diverted the conversation to something else so as not to have to address the first point. Well done!
