I am gutted the same will happen with Garcia as well. Silva will be getting older and you would think Garcia will get some meaningful minutes, but then we will end up buying some hot midfield property, and after that another one to kill any chances of youngster getting any minutes. Nacho wont get minutes unless Aguero gets injured then he might get 3 minutes at the end of blowout replacing Bony(of course 3:0 is not considered blowout), then he will be fucked off never to be seen again, that is if we dont buy several forwards by then anyway.

We have had 3 games that we have won almost 3 to nothing on average, yet not a single minute for any youngster because Pellegrini wants to please all our senior players. I am not saying its bad or good, but our youngsters wont get run in this system thats for sure. We are terrible at bringing in our prospects.

Of course our new fans doesnt help either. Look at everyone crying that we are not getting Pogba, KDB etc. Almost no one on this board has patience anymore, they just wanna buy, buy, buy, win, win, win and then we cry that no youngsters get chance, seriously come on.

Not sure where I've said that...

I said we run the risk. Take Denis Suarez as an example, he played 30 odd games for Sevilla last year, the kids we have now are significantly better than he was at the same age. If we don't start giving them a chance then they're rapidly going to get disillusioned and we might be missing out on some top talent.

If you can get 4 club trained players actually good enough to hold their own that's invaluable in the CL and it seems like we're not even trying.

Suarez has been binned off by Sevilla and will be farmed out to Villareal..

In retrospect the 7-10m we got for him is looking like good business.

So he started in La Liga in 2011 and has only played 36 times.

My point is most of the big clubs don't give youth a chance except the Bayern/Barca.

But I've proven that even Real Madrid do.

Chelsea, City & PSG don't, because they prefer not to. Real Madrid are poor at it but still do it. Everyone else uses kids in the squad pretty much all the time, including the two best clubs in recent years.

Your argument which if you remember started with a suggestion by you that only second rate non winning clubs do it, has been absolutely shot to pieces.

Carvajal and Varane were both bought. Do not count. I'll give you Jese Rodriguez but I bet you he didn't demand regular games at 19 like Lopes.
Lopes had 1 year left on his deal and wasn't willing to sign a new deal or bide his time so we had little option. £7-9m is good business.

Chelsea haven't brought a youth team player through to play regular games this millennium.

Courtois. Who also happens to be the example that shows that you do NOT need to give a player time in your squad to KNOW he is ready to step into the first team. If they are loaned and play at a high enough level our best can walk right into the squad.

And it has been proven that they have a better record for using young players.

Proven?

You make no sense! All clubs use youth at some point City - Joe Hart - Chelsea - John Terry/Courtois

My point is that it's common knowledge it's not done often enough.

You proved this yourself by using Jesse as an example 36 games in 4 years! Thanks.

Well, might as well contribute.

We're about to have spent near £100million on two players, if we had them both a few years ago does anyone reckon they'd of broken through? Got the game time needed to become players worth that much? Moreover have the loyalty that brings that we're seeing with De Bruyne, and see each time the scum sniff at a bayern player?

Truth be told until the club proves otherwise we have a poor, very poor record with youth recently. We've promoted 3 youngsters to the 1st team squad now one remains in the span of 2 months. These kids simply have ability, and we are repeat offenders in not showing faith in them. No-one is asking for a homegrown full 11, but god lets start small and hope Nacho gets 5 appearances in the league.

The sad reality is that one of the most highly rated young footballers in europe and the poster boy for our academy is leaving us because he doesn't believe we will give him a chance to prove his worth. Karim "if he doesn't make it here we will have failed" Rekik has also gone without getting a chance and Denayer is probably thinking the same thing and wishing he hadn't signed that new contract.

Obviously we don't know how good these players will end up being, or if any of them will become good enough to be integral first team players, but the fact is that we will not get a chance to find out as we have not given them a chance. It's pretty depressing stuff tbh and sends a pretty poor message to the rest of the academy. I think most of us were excited at the prospect of young players being integrated this year, especially Lopes and Denayer, but that doesn't look like happening any time soon. Some people will always find excuses why we shouldn't play our young players, but the reality is that they are probably the exact same excuses Chelsea fans made when selling De Bruyne
