Can anyone provide a satisfactory answer as to why a kid would get in our team, provide two assists in a cup semi, & never even get even five more minutes in a proper game for City ?
If anyone watched the West Brom-Chelsea game the other day, Serge Gnabry almost single-handedly gave away WBA's chance at drawing level. Despite having played for Arsenal's first team many times and being considered perhaps their best youth player, he was absolutely terrible in that game and couldn't keep possession if his life depended on it. Wasted multiple chances.

Even if a kid has played well before, it's a major risk every time you put them on the pitch ahead of a more senior player.

Wheras all our experienced team were faultless v Moscow in the Champions League ?

9m Euro seems pretty standard for a promising youngster with a full year of senior European football under his belt - might even end up a bargain for Monaco. He's not some clogger destined for a journeyman's career.

I think this is a sign of things to come.

Can you imagine once the academy kicks in we can sell 4/5 of these younger players who aren't quite good enough for 8/9£m every year then it's happy days.

£££££££

I'm firmly in the camp of if they are good enough, they will break through. However, there is a message coming through from many that they believe they are or have shown enough promise to be given a chance. With all due respect to these posters, unless you are a professional trainer, your views will be seen as just an opinion from a supporter like the rest of us.

It also seems convenient to put the lack of trust on Pellergrini, where (and we don't know for sure), it could be PW saying to Pellers that these kids are not ready yet.

Genuine question and not looking for a keyboard barny.

I would like to ask these posters though what in their opinion represents a chance?

Is it a full 90 min game
A cameo when the game is won
Sitting on the bench
AN Other

This illustrates just how special a talent you have to be to cross that bridge from the academy and get first team appearances.

Shame saw a lot of him in the previous few seasons as he was growing up but our 'powers' didn't feel he'd make it at our level and he'd got pissed off probably with seeing his chances getting less and less as we improved the squad.

Good luck to him.
