There will undoubtedly be a first refusal/buy back clause within this deal.

I never really understand why the player would even consider coming back? Barca have successfully brought former youth players back with Fabregas and Pique, but they are Barca, a superpower that can pick practically any player they want and sign them. I don't know what the circumstances are in which Lopes would willingly come back to us after we showed no faith in him whatsoever. We could have a buy back clause of 50p... it doesn't matter.

I think this is a sign of things to come.

Can you imagine once the academy kicks in we can sell 4/5 of these younger players who aren't quite good enough for 8/9£m every year then it's happy days.

£££££££
What isn't taken into account is a lot of these players are being bought in for smallish fees then you have their wages and development costs.
For everyone we get a fee for ,we will loose money on the ones that are released or move on very low fees

Yes but development costs for the youth academy doesn't count towards FFP whereas money recieved from player sales does.

No I haven't.

Normally after his excellent performance in the Cup Semi final, with 2 assists & everyone thinking he looked great a club would start to try & use the kid more & more. When have you seen Rony since ?

Surely you can't tell me Rony did something in that game which meant he was proven not to be good enough to ever play for City again ?

He had another chance in the Watford game, fluffed his lines and was taken off, Sergio had to save the day

Aye, one quiet game (by far not the worst player either) and it's time to throw him in the sea. Luckily none of our senior players have ever had a quiet game. Scott Sinclair got more chances ffs and he never did anything even approaching average

I don't agree. Like you eluded to; it is all circumstantial, but the model that we seem to be pursuing is nothing more than a loan with the selling club (Us in this case) having all the power. If the player becomes a success then we can take him back for a minimal fee. If he does not become a success then we have already reaped the rewards financially and do not have the headache of trying to get the player off of the books. The newly installed youth infrastructure is going to see a lot more of this and it is a sign of true football power to be in this position.

Shame to see him go but I trust we attempted to convince him to stay and if he didn't want to take his chances in our squad then that is up too him. Fact of the matter is, the club aren't deliberately blocking youth players playing in the the first team. The club are scrutinizing the players every moment of their lives, no one is better placed then the staff that deal with these players to decide if they are ready to play or not.
