Rony Lopes

Not upto us though is it ? If he won't sign, it doesn't really matter where he plays. Hopefully he'll sign a new deal but trom his point of view, unless he thinks City are going to use him, why sign ?
Pretty much this. He's good mates with Bernardo Silva, who was in a similar position at Benfica and not being given games despite being a fantastic prospect. So instead Bernardo Silva went and joined Monaco where he's starting week in week out and playing in the champions league. It's hard to imagine that Rony hasn't looked at that and thinks he could do the same.

If he picks the right club, I'm sure he can. It would be easier to get games outside the Prem too.

It would be in his best interests to sign a long term deal here and then go out on loan.

Even if he doesn't make it here, it will secure his future financially and he is easily good enough to play for a Europa League Italian or German side.

You are assuming that a deal for a 19 year old occasional squad player at City, is better than a senior squad/first team contract with, say, Monaco or Valencia.

What people seem to always fail to consider when suggesting he sign a deal with us to go out on loan is those clubs receiving loan players have far less reason to take a chance and actually develop that player than if he were a signed and owned asset. Some teams use loan players a lot, but usually when they have a solid avenue to own them afterwards if they turn out good.

Not a chance he would go to either of them clubs at this moment in time on a first team wage.

That's what he has to look at. If he doesn't make the grade next season, City would let him go and with our track record of selling players, he would have his pick of clubs.

Personally I think he is a season away from replacing Nasri with us and even if he earns half of Nasri's wage, that would be substantially more than he would get at Valencia or Monaco.

I think a new deal with City would probably be something along the lines of £40k a week (or about 56k). They're spending more, but you can see what they played their players recently here: http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/94241/2012-13-valencia-player-salaries-revealed/. I would be surprised if these weren't net wages as that is how Spanish salaries are typically reported. If they're not net wages, than 56k would have made Lopes the 4th highest paid player for Valencia a few seasons ago.

Lyon are rumoured to be nterested. They played against him last season. They would make him a first team squad player.

City won't offer him anything like that. Nor is he guaranteed a job in place of Nasri next season. We have DeBruyne, likely coming in, then next season, Barker, Patrick Roberts, Thierry Ambrose, Boadu, Garcia, & a whole bunch of others will be a year older & most are imo ahead of where Lopes was at their age & several on 5 year deals.

Then we have whatever signings we make next season.

This season is his biggest shot at getting a place for City imo & if we are not going to use him, he may as well leave.

Lyon have signed Valbuena to cover Grenier's injury. Lopes would be wasting his time if he did sign for them. It is a tricky situation in finding the right club to continue his development.

Lopes is officially a part of the first team. It would be a shock if a new deal for him was for much less than £40k a week. That's probably about the baseline. If he becomes a key player, we then double his wages in a few years.

I don't really agree with almost anything else you said either, for the record. None of those players have shown themselves to be further along than Lopes.

Matter of opinion I suppose. I think they are all more intelligent as footballers than he was at the same age & possibly than he is now & some are better footballers than he was, in fact most of them I listed are more impressive imo.

He played almost in a different era. The last EDS team is better in almost every position than the one which preceded it imo. Denayer being the exception.

And as for a new deal being 40k pw, surely Lopes would have to prove himself as part of the first team in order to get that ? When will that happen ?

saying all of those other players are further along than lopes was might be a rash IMO. the kid was compared to Hazard and James Rodriguez by Lille's manager. He also looked a class above any of the others when he was in our EDs, standing out more so than anyone currently is.

You and I could look like James or Eden at Lille. That side is void of creativity and rely on a top GK to keep them afloat.
