The evidence is there for all to see the success you've had in the past and well done for that, but things are changing, the tide is turning.

Move over as there's a new kid in town.......................
What I don't get from some of you City fans is why you think that your team getting better somehow ensures United's downfall.

Sure, you're now more competitive, will probably win trophies, perhaps even beat us more often, but in my opinion it's just like when Chelsea got all rich. We'll still be challenging for the trophies, and to think otherwise is not only naive, but arrogant.

We only bought three youngsters in the summer, 1 of whom has already been condemned as a flop, and we're still challenging on three fronts. Success is a hell of a lot more than finding the right players.

Fergie!!! Before he came to your club! Your club you had then was a million miles away from what the club is now! Liverpool laughed at your trophy haul and took the Mick! 26 years don't you think that is embarrassing? 1 person got your leagues and cups you have now! And when he goes what's to say you won't go back to before Fergie came?!

Is that true though, 2004 when they played Kleberson and Djemba Djemba in the first team was easily worse, Richardson got game time.

Errr...ok. So last summer, if you lot had the chance of either signing, who would you have gone for? I can guarantee you that the VAST majority of Bluemooners would have gone for Torres. Great point though.

Fair enough, if history in English football shows us anything, it's that certain teams go through periods of dominance, and then fade for a prolonged period of time, so yea, I see the irony in what I said, as if I assumed we had some God given right to continue to be successful, then that would be arrogant in the extreme...

But I just think we have the infrastructure to continue our success. Ok, so we're up to our fannys in debt, but that's the only, albeit huge (I genuinely nearly said 'massive' there without thinking, though I'd have probably been banned if I did) problem with the club at the moment.

Id say the biggest problem is that you have the worse United team I have seen in 20 years. Will that stop you winning the title this season? Probably not but thats because despite having what I would suggest is a distinctly average team you have a fantastic manager who somehow manages to get that extra bit from his players. As long as Taggart remains in charge you will always be there or thereabouts but as soon as he goes I expect your team will be shown up for being the average bunch of players that they are unless of course you can appoint someone like Mourinho.

Come on mods, this is unacceptable. I want an apology.

No need for it.
So now you're accusing our debt of being a City fan? What?

I've heard that so much this season, but it just doesn't wash with me. We've got some fantastic players in this squad, we've got some good players, we've got some average squad players, and we've got some players that only their mothers could love; a perfect squad blend. If we're truly so average, then how shit must the rest of you be?

If the squad you have was in the hands of any other manager in the Prem you would not be top!

Like I was saying, historically, there's a boom and bust cycle.

Logic suggests that we won't be as successful when we lose one of the best managers in history. We'll still have huge expectations though, regardless of who's in charge. You're right, we have come on leaps and bounds under Fergie, but we're one of the biggest clubs in the world now, and sensible decision making after he leaves could ensure that it stays that way.

The thing is although him saying it on a City forum might not go down to well I actually think it is a relevant question. City are sat 3rd but you will find threads all over this site which contain posts from unhappy City fans because many believe that with the squad we have we should be performing better. Im sure if you ask Arsenal fans how they think the season has gone they will probably believe that they have somewhat thrown away a golden chance at winning the title. Ask Chelsea fans and they bemoan a mid season slump when at one stage it looked like they would run away with it.

You may not want to hear it but United sitting top of the table owes as much to the rest of the league being poor as it does to United performing well.

Yep, that was me just trying to be jovial about a fucking depressing amount of debt.

And I agree with you - you can talk all you want about the loss of star players, but the replacement of our manager will be the most important decision in our club's modern history.

I like you, I wish all reds were were cut from your cloth. Are there others like you that make sensible comments and debate?

Arsenal and City have a better squad than United. Fact.

United have one of, if not the best manager in the world. Fact.

No it doesn't. All the premiership managers were surveyed a month or two ago, and asked why the season had been so tight and unpredictable. 7% said it was because the top clubs had got weaker. 70% said that it was because the other clubs had become stronger.

United are at the top because they've edged more games than anyone else. In doing so, they've used the psychological edge they've built up over the last 15 years to get out of jail repeatedly. When they go two down at West Ham, it's not about the belief amongst Utd players that they can mount a come back, it's about the fear in West Ham's eyes the first time they are put under pressure.

It's what causes Bolton to spurn the best chance of the match after 85 minutes of 0-0, and it's what causes their goalkeeper to spill a simple ball thirty seconds later.

Was it the manager who has scored the goals? Oh I remember Fergies scissor kick in the derby.

Give your head a wobble.

Agreed he has handled himself well on here and fair play to the lad.
