If I'm wrong and we sign him then great, however I see this as being quite different to the signing of Tevez. It will be very difficult for Rooney to move across the City to COMS, Fergie will fight it for as long as possible, the rag loving media will make it difficult too. Rooney will be portrayed as greedy. Our main strength here is geographical location, Rooney has family in the north west, and his wife does too (including a sick sister I believe). Without those ties I'd have Chelsea as overwhelming favourites as Rooney would be the perfect Drogba replacement.
He may end up at City, but I'd still have signing a new United contract as the bookies favourite (not that I'm a betting man).
