Rooney (MERGED)

To be fair, you're talking shit matt. You think buying one of the best players in the world would be selling our soul?

I presume you're aware that United have statues of two ex-City players outside their ground?

You aren't living in the real world. You are living in some strange fantasy land where clubs have 'souls' and 'philosophies' and all of that. Football clubs exist to win, and have done since the 19th century.

How exactly (and I mean be specific here) is buying Rooney selling our soul?

In this answer, I expect you to outline exactly what our soul is, where we got this from, and how we would be losing it by purchasing Rooney, yet kept it whilst employing Joey Barton and Craig Bellamy.

This is the post of the entire 165 page thread.

Soul? Arsoul!

I cannot see it being pre-agreed. The rags giving us permission to speak to the player without us agreeing a fee is borderline ludicrous and if that wasn't the case then it'd be illegal / tapping up scam material. Sure, the England lads will all talk and we have plenty of them but it's not as if they can hold that big a pull surely.

I genuinely do not think he will come to City and I have bet £20.00 with a rag on it already who is seemingly resigned to losing him to us. I suppose if I wanted to add fuel to the fire it'd be easy - Cook is nike and nike sponsor Rooney etc but it'd be folly to think that we're negotiating right now and that Jan will just be tying up the formalities (paperwork) between the club.

same, i have a tenner with another city fan that he wont come here
Why don't you two think he'll come here (not having a go, genuine question)? Do you think he has any respect for the rag fans or club? Do you think we're not big enough for him? Do you think Glazer wouldn't sell to us?

Just listened to it already. You can see him pretending he doesn't know why. Haha. It's more staged than wrestling.

Totally....

These quotes in particular....he's practically asking the fans to turn on him....whilst trying to appear whiter than white by 'leaving the door open'...

I had a meeting with him and he intimated it to me [that he wanted to leave] in his own way. I said: 'The only thing I want from you is to respect the club's position and its traditions and behave like a proper professional and we will try to see it through.'

And, you know, I don't know if he has done that.
I have my doubts about that because reading all these things about him falling out with me and all that nonsense then it's disappointing because we have done everything we possibly can to help Wayne Rooney.

But we've got into a situation now where we have to clarify it for our fans. What we saw [against West Bromwich Albion] on Saturday was unacceptable, the minute we got to 2-2 and the fans were chanting for Wayne Rooney. That puts pressure on the players and didn't do any good to the team. So we had to clarify the situation and put it right.

As strange, surreal, outlandish, bizarre, conflicting, and downright scary as it sounds...this has got done deal to City written all over it...

No, I want him because he is the most complete footballer in the world, and I've argued this for two years.

Just imagine Rooney, Tevez and Balo with Silva in behind.

I don't think I could watch for excitement.
How about this?

------------------Hart

Boateng-----Kolo------Vinnie----Kolarov

--------Yaya-------Milner

Silva---------Tevez----------Balotelli

-------------Rooney

Add to that AJ, De Jong and Barry plus the rest. What a squad we would have.

Arise Sir Paul Stretford

How about a petition to give a knighthood to Rooney's agent - for services to the British Comedy industry - for make millions piss themselves with laughter simultaneoulsy when SAF's press conference broke.

At a time of economic collapse this was truly a Comical Ali moment which united all decent members of the public in a simple bwahahahaha!

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.petition.co.uk/Rooney/Sir_Paul_Stretford/piss_themselves_laughing.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.petition.co.uk/Rooney/Sir_Pa ... ghing.html</a>

Some big questions have been raised today. If Taggert knew on August 14 why did the Scum given their perilous Financial state not try and cash in then?. We had whispers on the Forum that they had shown a bit of interest in Robinho for starters.

I can only presume that in their arrogance Ferguson and Gill expected Rooney to fire in the Goals to keep them challenging and that eventually he would have had a change of heart.

By the time he got caught with his Trousers down - Literally and had to face the wrath of Colleen and with the snake Stretford in his ear; the avenues left open to the Scum rapidly turned into Cul -de -sacs. As somebody posted earlier; - this is the Scum's " Perfect Storm".

After reading through the Posts and between the lines it is likely that Cook and Marwood are desperate to have him but what about Mancini? This is the biggest question of all. Is he prepared to stand there and throw the Lifebelt to Wayne and if he isn't will Cook and Marwood make him ?
