I've always held that there was something very wrong with that decision. I've never been so fucking angry after a derby than after that one.

I've spoken to Alan Wilkie about this, as he is a referees assessor and our paths crossed a year or so ago. I'd also spoken to David Allison about it, who also used to be a Premier League referee and is now the Football League referees manager.

Both of them at different times said that Frontzeck had a habit of subtlety holding onto players at corners and actually he'd been warned about it a few times before the penalty. So when the penalty was awarded, the two people who were probably the least surprised about it were Wilkie and Frontzeck himself.

Keane had a habit of snapping people in two, didn't see him getting sent-off
