Where will he play? despite last night's more than decent performance I don't see him as a Yaya replacement, he's a number 10 and Silva, Nasri, Jovetic and even Yaya can do a more than decent job.

Ideally in centre mid alongside Pogba, 1 of which is more defensive and the other more attacking ideal pairing.

Pogba's not a defensive midfielder.

You'd be wasting Pogba tbh, all his strengths are in his attacking game and he'd make a poor defensive midfielder, it'd be like the difference between Barca and City Yaya.

We're better off just getting Pogba in the summer, he's the type of replacement we'd need in that case.

This is what I've been saying. If we want a top quality young centre midfielder to replace Yaya, we should sign one, instead of signing a young prospect no. 10 who's shown the odd flash of brilliance and asking him to play a role he doesn't particularly seem suited to.

Even more so than his potential price tag, his injury record concerns me. We already have too many attacking players who can't stay on the field.

I didn't say he was a defensive mid I said he is more defensive than Barkley, I think they would be an ideal pairing because I see Pogba similar to Fernandinho who given freedom is great going forward but has a more rounded game and is a great tackler, Barkley can tackle but is more suited to being a driving force in our midfield witch I why I think they are the ideal partnership.

The key point about Barkley for me is that he appears to be the best prospect England have had for some time and I we need to have a few more English players in our squad so I want us to make them the best available in their positions (like Joe Hart is).

By Barkley's age, Toure had scored 6 league goals in Belgium and the Ukraine in over 100 games; Barkley currently has 7 in 56 appearances in the Premier League, yet some football masterminds on here seem sure that he will never reach or surpass Toure's level.

£60m is excessive and I'm sure a deal could be reached for a little more than half of that, but if we did sign him at £40m and get 10 years of service from him that's £4m a season. For a club willing to spend £34m on Sakho's back up in the French national team, it's a price worth paying.

Pretty useless comparison when you consider that players don't develop or mature at the same age.

I thought that was his point to be fair, that it's pointless comparing a 20 year old Barkley to a 32 year old Toure.

Not how I read it.

He would be more expensive than what we have paid for Sergio Aguero. A good player but not at the price Everton will want.
