has anyone been in the junction pub in hulme lately?was gonna nip in for one tomorrow on the way to town.sure its not rough, just asking like!

My mum ran this pub years ago.

Her name wasn't 'Smith' by any chance , was it?

I lived only yards from the Junction pub back in the 1970's , and one of our 'gang' lived there ..... we used to play footie on the school that was at the back of it (Birley).

No it was far later than that late 2000 early 2001.

Aaah right ... the concrete Bullring maisonettes that i used to live on and were opposite the pub would be long gone by then ..... yet the pub survived , and now looks better than ever .

You can see the maisonetttes that i lived in on this photo , they were demolished in the nineties .... the Junction pub is on the extereme left.

The benchill has a rep that's for sure, I think The Silver Birch has replaced it now since it got changed to a housing office,
The talisman got knocked down the other year :( .......... the cornishmen is still a cracking pub though.

Is the Woodpecker on Selsted Road still open?

Pretty sure it is mate, the old Labour club next door has gone though iirc, spent more of my youth in these two than is healthy though.

The Royal Archer on lower broughton road,i went in one day and the landlord had given the alchis in their scrapers and they were giving the boozer a makeover, the alcs were being paid in beer tokens.and im sure the pub on kersal flats someone mrntioned yday was the castle.

The Jubilee in Ordsal, Salford rough as fuck in its day.

The Miners Club in New Moston awful place.

Old Roebuck (now last orders) & Corkies in Middleton, shitholes.

Farmyard in Harpurhey, name says it all.

Ben Brierley in Moston, not a nice place bitd if not from the area.

Tudor Lodge, birds had bigger balls than the blokes.

The black Boy in Eccles. It's shut now thank god.
The 1st time I went in a woman threw her Stiletto shoe through the window and it landed on our table along with a shower of broken glass. It majorly kicked off outside with the Landlord and a few other men and women. We were locked in the pub till it all calmed down. A very scary 30 mins I can tell you!

Also the last time I went in, there was someone sat at a table blatantly sniffing cocaine off a key. Fucking hated that place. I only went in twice!

It had it's moments as did The Diamond XX and The Ellesmere near by.All complete sh1tholes.

you an eccles lad? diamond xx was the one known as cloudies wasn't it? due to it's shite cloudy beer. wangies has been known to house a few rum bleeders as well. not least of all my own uncle mike. a blue who is on a one man mission to offend as many reds as possible in a lifetime, whether it leads to a leathering or not.

sir malcolm you are correct the pub on Kersal flats was the Castle used to frequent it quite often when i stayed at my mates just near by.
