definitely not a rough pub but the bridge in sale was the host of the greatest pub brawl i have ever seen/ been involved in. friday night the whole pub was involved and it took 12 police riot vans to intervene. about 3 years ago it was.

Aaah right ... the concrete Bullring maisonettes that i used to live on and were opposite the pub would be long gone by then ..... yet the pub survived , and now looks better than ever .
You can see the maisonetttes that i lived in on this photo , they were demolished in the nineties .... the Junction pub is on the extereme left.
I never knew though , until i spotted this youtube , that the junction pub once had three floors.

The only time women came in was when they were dragging the men out or planting a full sunday dinner on a poor, pissed up blokes head.
It took sixteen pages for Newton Heath to get a mention.....amazing, lol.
Add The Railway, White Lion and Horseshoe in N/H to the list too.

Pretty sure it is mate, the old Labour club next door has gone though iirc, spent more of my youth in these two than is healthy though.
My dad used to take my grandad in there on sunday afternoons in the seventies. He told us once that Tommy Cooper walked in one day, walked behind the bar, and started pulling pints for everyone. Apparently, he was appearing at the Golden Garter and decided to go on a local pub crawl and ended up in the Woodpecker.itsnevereasy said:Dirty Harry said:Pretty sure it is mate, the old Labour club next door has gone though iirc, spent more of my youth in these two than is healthy though.
Lived there when i was a kid for about 6 years, always seemed a decent bunch of people in there (well most of them, there was a few nutters).
Had a few pints in here - what a shithole !rhinomcfc said:the bridge in altrincham must been i dive for the outsiders cos its a total dump, i remember one lanlord wanted to have a beach party and wanted to get a few tonnes of sand in and was goining to spread it all over the pub and he was in the process of putting a fishtank in a fruit machine so you could see the fish behind the reels but he did a runner with the taking that week! very strange man
