Roy Bailey

Peter Reid and Sam Ellis were the biggest pair of pricks that ever set foot in Maine road.

Reid should of been in all the worst manager posts that ball Pearce and Hughes seemed to of won.

Reid is up there with ball IMO.

Roy Bailey IMO is a city legend. A proper blue.

i don't know it might be bullshit but apparantly reid and ellis had a go at ian brightwell at half time during some game and apparantly ellis has twatted brightwell............i think ellis got sacked within days, reid couldn't cope without ellis, and either he got sacked at the end of the season (after finishing 5th) or walked in protest.

like i say it might be bullshit.

But then it may not be!!

I always remember reading an article years ago (can't remember who wrote it) stating that fans should never be under the illusion that a football club is one big happy family - it is the same as any other working environment where some get on better than others, some don't get on, there is envy sometimes over the difference in wages, but what really matters is that the players are all professional and put aside their feelings once they step onto the pitch.

I cannot remember when Ellis left, but I remember Reid getting sacked early into the season, as you say after finishing 5th the season before!!

Off the subject, I've had a couple of tweeted conversations with Reid and he praised City both times and slagged off Peter Swales both times!! (Reid also stated that Paul Lake was the best player he ever managed)

Back on subject, Roy Bailey is the first person I think of when I think of "City's physio" I hope he gets well soon regarding his knee op and I don't know how connected with the club he is these days, but if he were to release a book regarding his time at City........

.......it would be a great read I'm sure!!

We hadn't finished 5th, we'd just finished 9th after a quite dreadful second half to the season and an awful start to the new one.

Reid had totally ruined all of Kendall's good work by keeping/buying Redmond, Phelan, Holden, Heath at the expense of Hendry, Pointon, Michael Hughes and Allen.

If he wasn't sacked then he WOULD have taken us down that season (2 wins in the previous 20 odd games prior to his sacking).

Horton saved us that year.

spot on about where we finished under Reid. 5th, 5th and 9th then he went. Seemed pretty decent for a long time after though. And I wasnt bothered - really thought we needed to kick on
