Some doddering old goat like Roy Hodgson says 'monkey' and we all think we've found the new Hitler.

Maybe Roy just saw a room of players and told his analogy without ever seeing colour, creed or race? So possibly being the epitome of the opposite of a racist. That's my stance and I'm sticking to it and anyone else who saw any possible racist connotations is actually the racist.

The more I think about it the more preposterous it gets.

Why did Hodgson think for a second that someone in their early twenties would understand the context of what he was saying, based on a joke that's anachronistic and nearly as old as he is?

On that basis it doesn't take an enormous leap of the imagination to arrive at the conclusion that any such recipient of such a comment might just think he was calling them a .........errrr.........monkey.

Why the hell did Roy use a "monkey" joke involving a black player.

Because he wasn't comparing a black person to a monkey.

Are you not allowed to use the word monkey in any scenario to a black person? Do they cover up the monkeys at a zoo when a black person enters?

My black friends are just as bemused as anyone, it's a frightening world when we have to think about everything we say in fear of being branded a racist.

I'm sure Roy doesn't see colour of skin an issue just like 99.999% of the worlds population

What no one knows is that the 'monkey' in the shuttle was actually a black guy. Nasa just called him a monkey because they're horrible bastards. Note how the monkey does all the work, it's a reference to slavery.
