Roy Hodgson

Players are definetly selected on form rather than team now, Rooney apart. In 2002 the team had Vassell, Hargreaves and Mills in it also think Sinclair played a good part of that world cup as well. 2-3 man u players in the team

If players are definitely selected on form, why were Wilshere and Sturridge both in the squad?

Crimson Clive said last night that the big baby had played more for England than he did for l'Arse last season. It's idiotic taking a player with so little game time under his belt and with Rashford in the squad, we already had four forwards, if you include shrek, so why take a half-fit greedy bastard, especially if you're going to play him as a winger. Hodgson would have been as well taking Townsend instead and Drinkwater rather than Wilshere.

Once again, it's selecting players on whom they play for - Sturridge and Wilshere - regardless of whether they are fit or not, rather than others, who are fit, raring to go and offer something different, especially in the case of Townsend instead of Sturridge.

His decision making is ludicrous.

He's taken two unfit midfielders to the Euros in Henderson and Wilshere and then bizarrely decides to throw them into the starting team together.

He's taken just three central defenders meaning that if one gets injured, we only have Eric Dier as back up.

That would be fine if he had taken Danny Drinkwater to cover Dier but he didn't. Instead he has virtually told Drinkwater that regardless of how he performs, he'll never be considered an England player unless he leaves Leicester and took a player in Wilshere who has now played more minutes for England over the last 12 months than he has for his club. Anyone who actually wants England to do well must have shuddered when Gary Cahill went down injured last night.

He's completely stitched up Raheem Sterling. Everything good that England did for an hour against Russia involved Sterling. Yes he had a quieter end to that game after the creative midfielder was brought off and was poor in the first half against Wales but by leaving him and Kane out of the next game but allowing Kane the chance to redeem himself, he's shown no faith or loyalty to Sterling.

As mentioned above, if you want to use Rooney as the creative force in midfield, don't drag him off when we are dominating the game and then blame the other players on the pitch when it goes wrong.

Changing 6 starters for a group game that we need to win. It smacks of arrogance and we've paid the price. We could now meet Portugal instead of Northern Ireland or Albania. It's not as if we haven't been down this road before.

He got all excited when announcing he was taking 5 strikers because they were the players who would win games for us. Well they haven't exactly so far have they? We've scored 3 goals in 3 games against poor opposition and one of them was from a defensive midfielder.

He has an abysmal record in tournaments winning 3 of 10 games and the sooner he is sacked, the sooner England will be allowed to make use of the young talent that we currently have.

take a bow mate you are spot on.

I think I read that Wilshere has managed 144 minutes over three games for the Arse this season. Hodgson should be condemned for even thinking about taking a player with so little match fitness, sharpness, which last night came home to roost, and the same for Henderson. He has 23 very ordinary players but doesn't have twelve or thirteen very good ones. Add to that mix his often mystifying approach such as last nights team selection, it's a wonder England are here in the first place.

People are doing the guy a disservice. He's doing a fine job with what's available. If anything, his contract should be extended, even the England captain says that.

We need to accept that we are just a mid table type team and while the Premier League is rich enough to buy ready made foreign stars it isn't going to change.

They also have a "dynamic centre midfielder in Ramsey
But the rest of the team apart from Williams, are lower league level

The problem with Hodgson is that he won't start his strongest team in its strongest formation (4-4-2) He has to find a way to squeeze Rooney in somehow.
Last night, even though he didn't start Rooney, he fielded a formation that doesn't suit England's strengths but would have accommodated shrek

Joe Allen has turned up for this, pulled all the stings against Russia

Just saw this on twitter not sure if it's true but wouldn't be surprised if it is. Maybe someone who follows stats can prove it true or false.
