Going to be the net spend / transfer window champs if we get 20 million for Ottamendi even if we have to pay extra for Dias

Need to close the gap on Liverpool so we need signings, we are trying to make signings and still people moan, can we just give the guy a chance.

This is done. Don't know how I feel about it, but it's happening.

Was out in the middle of nowhere camping last night when I posted this, hence why it was brief! Ha. Bit more info as I didn't really elaborate. Basically, I don't pretend to be an ITK as many on here will know, but I do hear some very reliable stuff occasionally so I share it in good faith :)

Someone I trust implicitly passed this on to me last night. Coincidentally, that was the second person who hold told me it was done. I met someone 'in the game' at an academy match once a while back who I keep in touch with who has fed me stuff about other transfer before that's been really accurate, so I have no reason not to believe them. The former person who told me said it was so far advanced that an announcement might have even happened last night. From a personal perspective given my video stuff I was like 'ffs! The timing' ha.

Guess it didn't, thankfully on a personal note, but I have no reason to doubt anything has changed. Not heard any updates today, and I have seen the contrasting reports, but I still trust the people who told me. I do know Otamendi is all ready to go too btw. Club ready to announce that etc. I can only presume its just a matter of time now. If it doesn't happen, don't shoot the messenger. Things can change in a heartbeat of course, but I've been told it is literally done by two people now. Only passing this on in good faith once again!

I find myself in between both of the positions.

I cannot help but trust the management when I have seen the best football I have ever seen at Manchester City, coupled with success I could only have dreamed about when I was watching Steve Kinsey and Jamie Pollock.

However, I do take your point about signings. I would say if we have better luck with injuries this season .... but that’s blown out of the water already. My opinion is that we will see a concertina effect this season. I believe Liverpool will struggle to hit the heights they hit last season. Chelsea and Arsenal will be closer. I see a four way go for the title and it isn’t out of the question we could still come out on top.

I sort of agree with you but we also at times need to look forward and stop using the likes of players you mention as a barrometer to what we are seeing now...more relevant would be what we have seen since the takeover.

Does Dias and Ake (who i think is a great buy btw) measure up to Kompany, Lescott, MDm for instance - I have no idea btw on whether they will or not..

Does/will Torres match up to Sane, Narsi etc etc.

Of course we should not forget our (not so) illustious near past (1980's - 2008) as that what makes this club we love special - the fans stuck with the club through some dark times and we came out the other side. But also we need to keep looking forward and improve what we measure ourselves against....if we dont thats how we become complacent as fans and a club (which i dont think we are)

On signings we have been hit and miss recently

For every KDB there is a Mendy
For every Kompany there is a Mangala
For every Ederson, a Bravo

Clichy was a decent left back...Kolorov ok but since then we have been let down (some bad luck with Mendy's injuries but also we have since filed to address his poor form)

Since Kompany left we havent replaced him and the negative effect of this has been increased by the fall in form (an injuries) to Stones who Pep clearly had very high hopes/expectations for. However we ahve bought well with Laporte and strongly believe we have done so with Ake as well - Im not sold on Dias but he has age on his side and the best coach in the world to work with..Id rather see Koulibaly (and his age was a negative) or Kounde who ive only seen bits of but looks to have more that Dias just in terms of naturall ability

We will have to replace Kun and Ferna very soon.....that will be the last of the the main original back bone of our best side in the last 10 yrs gone. Of course we have a new one in KDB, Ederson, Walker Sterling and others but there is an argument potentially that we havent put long term potential greatness around those players..doubts over Cancello, Rodri, Mendy, Mahrez, Bernaro Jesus still exist and not for no reason - all can be great players but show a lack of consistency.

Liverpool are now the bench mark to go past - we cant look backwards to our last few titles - we have to look forward to keep improving

We have some interesting talent coming through - Foden in particular and the couple of times Ive seen Doyle he looks better than Gundogan in that position (though in fairness he needs to be tested at the top level regularly in the prem/champs league). Delap looked impressive the other night but we all know strikers can have great early success and fade into averageness - Iheanacho springs to mind.

what do you reckon on him then, not slow ,quality ?
I guess i've come around. Would prefer koulibaly or Kounde but I think he can surprise

Seems to be very strong and tall with good passing and a great commander, would probably complement laporte well.

I would love Telles because I think that would make our defense REALLY good.

I'm coming back as Jorge Mendes.

This guy is primo. Only he can get paid on multiple fronts.

No wonder he is seen as top of the food chain.

Messi got the wrong Jorge as his agent.

On a side note, i would like Nico to end up at benfica. just to fuck off porto, cheeky gits tried to push for a loan with us paying his wages, and instead he ends up at their rivals.
