Why still no announcement from city about the Dias transfer?, what they waiting for?. What's the hold-up?.

Sorry mate Mendy has been a joke since he arrived - people will only remember him for his off field antics.
Playing wise he is terrible.

Mendy looked good on signing - however has had two horrendous injuries. He may not recover to be the player we brought or he may need time to get sharpness and fitness back. Seems to be forgotten in the slagging Mendy always seems to get. IIRC he was brought in to play in a back five however the injury prevented that ever being able to be done as Delph and Zinchenko (the alternatives) we in no way wingbacks.

The player we have now sadly is not the player we signed who was up there with the best for Monaco and took us apart. However I believe that is a result of serious knee injuries rather than bad recruitment.

He was injured soon after he arrived, in the first few games he looked great, you can't predict an injury never mind 2 so whatever happens he can't go down as a bad or overpriced buy.

No we havent but its not like we havent made bad calls on players before and this is an extremely important one....from what Ive seen of him he looks pretty good but our scouting and recruitment of players is far from infallable as has been proven repeatedly

We need players who an actually defend - Benjamin Mendy being a case in point where we have got it drastically wrong. Big questions over Cancello as well (even his desire to be here) - thats a lot of wasted money just on those two players. further back you can look at Mangala...and further up the field questions have to be asked about the recruitment of Rodri

By my maths that's nearly £400 million on 12 defenders since Pep has arrived - arguably only 2 (Walker and Laporte) have made the grade, ok we have not seen Dias and not much of Ake performing for us yet.
However the 8 others - Mendy, Zinchenko, Danilo, Stones, Garcia, Sandler, Angelino and Cancelo have overall not performed consistently well enough for us over the years.
Some of these buys represent staggering incompetence in our buying and recruitment - the main lesson being we are paying ridiculous fees for average players.
And in summary where has it got us now? The answer a poor back line with no discipline and kamikaze defending.
I find the figures above staggering and we have regressed to an extent where the league looks over after 2 games.

Zinchy desrves his medals easily , out of position , john deserves his centurians medal ,danny did ok when he played , jo was playing well post lockdown , he had to settle in, walker and eric are very good , you have a point about mendy , angel didnt cost anything , lumping them all together is not the way to evaluate individual value for money imo

Jo took a season to settle , rodders was in his first season , you cant write players off in their first year or ruby before he has even got here , why go negative all the time .Mendy was a good buy when we brought him, you cant see injuries coming or how they will recover or not , most agree he is a useless lump now but that is different to being a bad buy, surely you can see that
